Attention seekers   

I once had a friend who was like that. Well actually, she still is like that. We are just not close anymore because she moved. We rarely talk anymore. She was a huge backstabber. She told people what they wanted to hear, even if it wasn't the truth, just so she could be in the limelight. Actually one of my best friends right now is an attention grabber. But I can handle her because she does not go to such extremes that my previous friend did. I must admit that I am a lover of attention aswell, but I try to get attention through positive things, not negative things. I have learnt my lesson, that yes negative behavior gets you attention, but it is the wrong kind of attention. So now I try to focus on helping others, and being funny and kind to gain attention from my friends.

Yes, I know those kind of people too.
There's a person I would hang out with years ago who was extremely desperate to get attention from others. She would badmouth everyone and tell they were all inferior to her, but then put a fake smile in front of the sames she would badmouth. After that, of course, she would make a big fuss and drama with those people.
She loved being the center of attention, and she would use any mean for that.
I don't enjoy spending time with that kind of people, so I stopped doing so :)

Hey tee! You are not alone! I have a girlfriend who is like
that sort of! She has a nasty habit of talking down to people
all the time and being rude constantly! I don't let her get
away with it to me! But, if I do it she is the first one to
point it out! She doesn't hear herself doing it! She can be
very embarrassing too. Like when we are out in a store or
restaurant she is very nasty to the help. I stopped talking to
her for quite awhile because of her attitude and she still hasn't
changed! Some people just don't get it! I was taught that you
at least try to be respectful to others. She is a rich, spoiled
brat and thinks everyone owes her something. And then she
wonders why she has no friends!

I've known several people like throughout my life, two of them were very close to me. You have to be careful of who you hang around or involve in your life. Having friends or a relationship that consumes negativity like that could negatively affect your other relationships. People tend to see others as groups, not individuals. If you are friends with a person that is constantly attacking others, you will be assumed the same.

Some people feel they need to have a certain amount of control. I think most of these people have low self esteem. They see others, perfectly content, and focus on destroying that happiness. If they can't be satisfied in life, no one will. Then they'll keep one or two genuinely good people around as 'friends' in order to make themselve feel as if they are not the ones doing wrong. Most times these friends will support and sacrifice themselves for that person. The problem is that they don't appreciate it. They take them for granted, and thrive off the power. They may also treat your friendship like its a competition. Everytime you succeed at something, they're telling you they've topped it with something better. The whole point is to create a vacuum that sucks the content out of your spirit. Misery loves company.

Unfortunately, I have a few family members who are attention seekers. If the world doesn't revolve around them, it can't happen for them. The holidays seem to bring out these traits in them more than at other times of the year. I hope the attention they need is worth the bitterness it can bring in the end.

oh yes.
i knew somebody who was friendly as can be unless you didn't take their side on something.
then everything you did was wrong and they insulted you,even if the point of arguement didn't originate with you.everybody else was an "idiot".
and the funny thing was they cried the loudest when they felt picked on but thought nothing of turning that around on another person.

In my experience, there was always one kid in the classroom, growing up, that was like that. It was usually a boy, and they were never really liked by anyone. They'd always interject when the teacher was talking, or try to make jokes that no one laughed at.

Hello Tee I am so sorry that you have to deal with these type of people. Me if they start this stuff with me I look at them and tell them they can hit the road. I took it for 12 years with my ex and I didn't know what to do. But I kept praying and asking God to show me a way out. And believe it I did find a way out. Christians are not second class citizens God don't want us to take any Bull from anyone. Next time tell who ever it is to get the heck away from you and to never come back. I don't feel sorry for those people they only think of themselves. You got to treat people how you like to be treated and if they treat you bad then you should stand up and treat them the same way.
