Fortunately for memy work while not directly related to what i studied still requires and makes use of my profession. Earlier on, I was in a job which was directly related to my legal profession but due to a series of promotions I don't have to do cases or even to review decisions but i still find my legal background very useful. I guess unlike other professions, a legal background is useful in almost any kind of job.

I am Masters in Microbiology and I am working for American Express for SErvicing Center. I also have got promotion and growth in this field with experience without any involvement of my studies. So its truth that you dont always get what u want and u have to accept what comes to u.

Hi,
Honestly I always wanted to be an athlete, I was very interested in sports and sporting competitions and wanted to represent my country in major world tournaments. It demands tremendous dedication and the will to win in all situations and may be i had those qualities in those days.
Iam in construction field and its totally different from what I aspired to. I did my management studies and its helping me in my current work.
Cheers,
Tutul

Hi Bala!
It is strange but true that many of us get into different professions viz-a-viz our educational qualification. Like you I'm also in a profession which have on direct connection with my qualification. However, I've no regrets.

You are not alone, balasri.. I was an accounting graduates and I did management and administrative career now. I think most ppl are this way nowadays, the education is just a pathway to be completed, and the next interest in career path is more on the exposure and experience

We all come to the cross roads in our life at a particular moment. We have chosen the one with which we are comfortable with right now.How about the poor ones who choose the wrong path and wallowing in it unable to extricate themselves from the rut.I become very God fearing thinking of that.

BSc, HR, writer, photographer, artist... You did it all in flying colors! wish you luck in everything you do dear. You are the best.
As for me, and as you must be knowing, I graduated with English major , went on to study Medical Transcription, which I didn't like at all. My present job has nothing to do with the college subjects I opted for. But then my freelance job on internet has been greatly enriched due to my background subject.

I would not say that Bala, as far as my freelance work in concerned. I had my own independent tutition centre and was teaching English ; this was primarily my subject. But, there is one thing thta has been totally unrelated to my area of study in college;[I did my M.A. in Literature] , but after marriage I developed an interest in the Capital MArkets, and now I can safely say I have acquired some skill and expertise here, and I owe this to my husabnd.

No issues Kala.I too make a lot of mistakes in typing. And nice to know that you were able to do something related to what you have studied. We do learn a lot of things in our life from our companion and children too which help us in our career in a great way.One must be lucky to have a caring partner who is contributing to the career.

I am happy that I have been engaged in my teaching job related to what I learned at college. I have benefited a lot from my major, which helps support me. I have no idea what else I can do if it is a job unrelated to my major.
Yeah, I have also heard of many people who engage in another job not related to what they learn at school. Then gaining experience is very important. I guess that you have been doing a good job in this line of your business. Keep it up, friend.

Exactly Bala, I am a commerce graduate and I am not doing anything related to it. I am doing computer related works mostly here also some difference with my studies. I did my diploma in computer with programming language and I never used what I studied in my work. Sometimes I too felt why I waste that money for doing a course which is not at all useful for me.

I too think at times that precious time is wasted on studying something that is not applicable to the work I am doing now. But it is a fact that nothing we study in our life is a waste. It always enriches our minds with knowledge. And we won't be knowing when the things we learned will come handy in our life. And we may become proud when we are able to share something with someone on the subject we studied.

Hi bala! It is strange where the roads of life leads us. I actually studied Electronics and now I am in management too..lol..Inventory Control. I am actually back in school now to get a business degree. I figured if I'm going to do this job, I might as well have a degree in it..lol..Up until now I have been doing it from what I have learned and been trained in company. I may be back in school for something else later on..lol..depending on what life has to throw at me.

Yes Jen it is strange what the life offers and throws in our laps in spite of the things we specialize ourselves. We take up a course with full of ideas and imagination to take up a job in the same field and lands in a totally irrelevant field. And it is even stranger how we accept our fate and try to excel in whatever is given to us.
Destiny or God is having a swell time with our lives.

I did once. I graduated with a degree related to the medical field. I got a job that is totally unrelated to it. I was hired as a telemarketer. So don't like the job.

It happens in th life of most of the people. They study one subject out of interest or compulsion and get to work in a field that is totally unrelated to whatever they have studied.I am at a loss to say whether the time they have spent in studies is wasted or it is beneficial to them in life in some other form.

Interesting, I never really thought about it that way. As our destiny predefined regardless of what we studied. I studied teaching and have done all kinds of things including being a correction officer. Teaching just ended up helping me become a better jack-of-all-trades. Intersting observation.

Im close to making that decision but Im not there yet. Im still studying and I think it fortunate that my course has a broad scope in business. I guess that could roughly translate to the saying "Jack of all trades, master of none". It would be up to me to have a specialization if I chose to. However, with the way that our business is going, its better that I know at least a bit of everything. Think of a particular field to start with and then go extend from there. Im still planning to pursue a second degree and that is the course that I really want. When I have finished that I will dedicate myself to all the responsibilities that are waiting for me.
You're right about that bala. We can only decide for ourself up to a point, then somewhere along the way, everything will fall in its rightful place, whether we are aware of it or not.
Happy Holidays!
