PLEASE!!! Don't Spam Me!  

Why not only accept friend requests from genuine posters?

I get loads of friend requests from new joiners who have obviously signed up purely to make a quick buck; people who have few posts and no avatar. And no apparent reason to want me as a friend.

So I delete them.
And thus: I have not been spammed!

Simples.

I hate getting spammed by new 'friends'

Normally I add anyone who sends a friend request and up until recently haven't had a problem with spam.

The other day I added two new friends who immediately sent me links to money making sites which I had never expressed any interest in.

I deleted them and won't accept them again as it is really rude

This annoys me too. I just accept a friend request and this 'friend' send me a 'invitation' with him referral link... errrrr. I get spammed from My Lot members so many times.

That is the main reason why I have stopped just accepting friend requests from everyone that sends me a request. It was getting ridiculous. Now I only accept them if I know the person has been around awhile and I have seen them at least in the same discussions as me a few times.

But you're a member of myLot! And nobody joins myLot unless they want to earn extra money, right? It's not like this site has active forums where users can discuss just about anything that interests them or anything. Nope, we're all just here for the money, so we must be interested in having links to each and every new PTC site that pops up shoved down our throats whenever we turn around!

Seriously, though, I'm right there with you. It annoys me when spammers get into my interest categories and start loading up the forums with their garbage, but requesting friendship just to send spam is a step below that IMHO. I rarely ever accept requests because I've had so many people send me spam. Granted, I'm probably asking for it by frequenting the moneymaking topics, but I enjoy participating over there.

It kind of makes me wish that myLot offered a few filtering options on the PM feature. It would be nice if we could turn PM privileges on or off like we can with notifications.

I don't like to be spammed. If you don't like to be spammed, don't publish your email anywhere, don't participate is social networks, don't surf the internet, don't use internet banking, don't create email accounts and don't use a computer or a telephone. If you have any of those products, marketers will find you and will offer your products and opportunities even if you haven't asked for it. I mean this is the sad reality we are living.

I changed my "motto" to warn that I wasn't accepting people with lots of banners as friends. I also let low number people "sit" in the request until I see if they are active, or just "trolling."

I've probably denied more requests than accepted in the last year, in fact, one of them is one I've denied at least a dozen times ALONE!

I hate being spammed, either here or else where!

I guess I am very lucky like that I can count on the fingers of my hand the number of times I have been spammed her in mylot in all the years that I have been here. I just don't bother with them I don't even read the messages, I don't have time to waste on things that I will never do anyway.

Oreo, that is why I look at people's discussion history before accepting them as friends.

If all they ask about is making money or PTC I expect the same from them and I deny them. I am rather fussy about who I except because of this problem in the past.
