I just saw this on World News Now about a new concept in spreading Breast Cancer Awareness and it's through a video made by Emily Somers who created this video as a fundraiser and features some of the staff at Providence St. Vincent's Medical Center in Portland, Oregon doing a "dance" number to the music of "Down" by Jay Sean.
Medline is the leading maker of those sterile gloves medical staff wear in hospitals, and the reason for the color pink is due to pink being the color for breast cancer issues and awareness. Medline donates proceeds for each box of it's sterile gloves directly to the different Breast Cancer organizations.
Now watching some segments of this video, I just couldn't help think some of the staffers must have watched that famous J &K Wedding Entrance video also at YouTube that was so famous during the summer as the moves were similar. For comparison google the JK Entrance Wedding Dance and you can compare that video with the Pink Glove Dance...
Here's an article about the Pink Glove Dance AND the video--posting the link two ways since my links don't always work

I am all for cancer awareness and all, they promote, promote, promote... tell women to get the test, do the mamograms, find it early etc. We all would like to do that. However, it really makes me mad that they never offer any help FINANCIALLY to get these tests done. Granted, there might be some out there, but I was never sucessful in finding any help.
When I didn't have insurance.. I couldn't find any place that would help me financially the cost of a mamogram. And I couldn't afford it on my own. Amd they wouldn't do any kind of paymnet plan.
When I HAD insurance, my insurance DIDN'T cover a screening... of any kind! I had to pay out of pocket for the screening.. if there was a lump/cancer found, then and only then would the insurance kick in at their descression and pay 80/20. And I never had the money to pay out of pocket. And they wouldn't do a payment plan.
So while they are so big on getting the word out to get a mamogram...and since I am sure I am not the only one in the this situation... while they promote, promote, promote... it sure would be almost more helpful if they'd promote how to get financial help to pay for the confounded screenings!!!

Yes all the health insurance plans suck big time. Heaven forbid you want to see a doctor close to you but can't since he doesn't accept one's particular health coverage, not like years ago when you could plain and simple go to anyone you wanted to and have everything treated by him. Also, now most docs (primary care) don't do anything except refer a person here or there

I enjoyed that! It looks like a lot of work went into it. It’s very well done especially when everybody is dancing together. I liked the theatre nurses doing the arm thing, that was great. I’m going to show it to some of my friends. The pink gloves are a brilliant touch. It was so great how there were staff from all different areas all getting into it. I really hope it works well to raise awareness and that a lot of money is collected for this very worthy cause. Thanks for sharing, most enjoyable!

It's great to see that the entire staff had a sense of humor about it...for some reason one thinks of hospitals and doctors being so "serious"..LOL

That is an excellent video Pye! It certainly reinforces that while the disease is horrible and devastating, the fight for the cure should be looked at in a positive light. So many people lose sight of the fact that the potential for cure is not impossible. But it is expensive, and every little bit that can be done to raise awareness and generate the contributions needed to continue research are vitally important. Thanks for sharing this!

It makes you wonder though if we'll ever find a real cure for any disease. At most our medical know how just treats a disease but never cures completely
