What do you think is architecture and what do architects do? |
| |
| Well, from past many days after completing my architectural degree, I was just thinking what do people expect from an architect? What do they think? And would you even get any of your project to an architect? Here I am talking about a person who is a professional in designing buildings and finance related to it and many other aspects. What are you views? If you think I should be more descriptive tell me the field I need to be descriptive in and I will be more descriptive. | | | | | |

| | Architecture, is the design and overseeing of the construction of buildings. Also, the redesigning of buildings. Architects, design, plan, and supervise the construction of buildings, bridges, and structures. Any of my project, oh I have idea's, but I have not yet got the funds to secure the services of an architect. They are the guys that can decide what is possible and what is not, and how much it costs to make what is not possible happen. Self contained float-able biosphere, measuring in excess of 50 acres, with solar, wind, and tide power generation.... Cheers. | | | | | | |

| | Thanks a lot friend. I know it. But I wanted a public view. I wanted to know What different people think and expect from us. So, that we can give them what they expect. Well, value for money is the first priority as I think. Then there might be more ideas. Just ask a few of your friends to give their own personal view too. Well, your view was like a diamond in a treasury. | | | |

| | I am sorry sir, I am the public. All my friends that I ask say - they are the guys that design buildings. Very few of us were aware that they are in charge of the financial situation though. And we figured the general public would not need to acquire the services of a architect. | | | |

| | Well, an architect is taught everything related to buildings, but then, very few become architects, and rest take specialization in a specific field of architecture and does that only as a job. | | | |

| | An architect..hmm..I hope you don't mind poetic description. That's where i am this morning..An architect is a dreamer. He dreams in lines and flow. He's also a translator. He can take someone else's dream and translate it into design and pattern. He's a chameleon. He can adapt to the needs of his clients and be a traditionalist or an innovator or can take the two and combine into a single coherenet flow. He's an illusionist. His designs seemingly defy the laws of physics... Enjoy my friend! | | | | | | |

| | I used to have no clue what the difference between architects and engineers and now that my brother has an engineering degree in civil engineering, I think that the difference is a little bit more clear to me, but you can feel free to correct me if I am wrong. The architect is the one that designs the building from a more aesthetic point of view while the engineers are the ones that do the design work from the point of view of functionality and durability. Like I said, please let me know if I am wrong. | | | | | | |

| | aesthetics does not have a a finite reply. if you design a building on the point of aesthrtics. it may look good to you or some, but not to everybody. cause evrybody has its own choice and fashion. so, it should be more conceptual. so, that the most climatic challenges are given answers to. engineers see only the structural and not the planning or spacial thing. spaces are to be designed by architects while structures are to be seen by engineers. | | | |
