Devotees are the people who come to pray in the temple. In Hinduism, we do not have fixed times for prayers, and there are no sermons or anything like that. We just visit our temples whenever we like.
Since Hinduism is based on Idol worship, it is the priest, who chants some slogans in praise of the god, and then shows a camphor in a plate, so that the devotees can see the face of the idol. Usually the Idols are kept in a place which is quite dark.

ramesh , even i have gone to the temples, big and small , many times.i live in chennai .i have seen women offer prayers in great sincerity. and there are the beautiful woomen coming there too. many male devotees come to the temples not only to offer prayers but to see those rare beautiful women !they also come there for seeking marriages opportunities . you know it !the priests have been utilising his interaction with those women for the wrong intentions.it cannot come all of a sudden it will take a long time for the priests to watch and make friends with the targetted woman or women .it is like smelling sweet fruits for a long time and tryig to get a taste of them. and the jobs in the temples are permanent ones and not many can question the priests and others working there.it is like a government job.

golvine since you are from Chennai, it is a surprise how you have not seen this news, the news was first published in the tamil weekly "Junior Vikatan" about a couple of months back, and about 10 days ago this priest was arrested by the Kanchipuram police, and it was even published in all Tamil papers as well as The Times of India, Chennai edition.

silver , i live in india.the beautiful or ugly women of india will trust nobody , whether is you or me or anyone else. they trust the priest alone for the reloigious purposes and activities.the indian priests ,present and past ,are like the old priests of greek mythology. men do not go tho the temples often but women do. the priests know that.in fact , more women go to indian temples than those in the western countries go to the churches. while the older (above 60 ) and very young priests( below 30) dont do any such things ,it is the middle aged ones who are the culprits.
