| Is piglet from winnie the pooh wearing clothes? | | | | This is a question brought up by my block mates. They are arguing whether piglet from Winnie the Pooh is wearing clothes or not. Some of my classmates argue that the stripes is actually piglet's skin. However, some of them argue that these are actually his clothes. However, the counter-argument is that winnie's clothes are moving with teh wind or has crease at times while piglet's body does not seem to resemble a cloth. Included is a picture of piglet. Decide on the basis of the picture. What do you think? Is piglet wearing clothes or is the stripes is actually his skin? Why do you think so?:) | | piglet | | | | | | | | | Shop Till You Drop The stores you love, now 50-90% off. Find unbeatable deals everyday! www.Groupon.com/Sign-Up

| | Although wild piglets are often striped, domestic pigs in Britain are normally pink and their young have no stripes. In Britain, a piglet is always depicted as pink and without stripes. E.H.Shepard's drawings are line drawings in black and white and Piglet's body is shown as darker with horizontal stripes representing a knitted garment. Disney interpreted this as a red garment, darker than the skin of the head, arms and legs. The original 'Piglet' (a soft toy) was probably a knitted stuffed toy with a darker body, as Shepard drew him. The 'clothes' would not have been separate or removable but would certainly have suggested a 'body suit' rather than nakedness. | | | | owlwings (12364)

| | Perhaps I should explain that the original Winnie-the-Pooh stories, written by A.A.Milne in the early 20th Century were illustrated by E.H.Shepard in black and white line drawings. Some of these drawings were later issued coloured. Disney Studios based their versions fairly closely on the Shepard drawings but added detail of their own. Shepard's originals were based on actual soft toys owned by Christopher Robin Milne and the original Piglet was, I believe, knitted in different coloured wools and stuffed. Pooh was made of fur fabric (like most teddy bears) and the original probably didn't have clothes. | | | | | | | Why Shop Online Visit The MyReviewsNow Interactive Mall And Discover The Benefits http://www.squidoo.com/why-shop-wit | add comment | | | |
