Would you drink something that came out of a coffee bag? |
| |
| Well would you. Dawnld tried to offer me coffee from a coffee bag, that is the same concept as a tea bag, but with coffee in it. The idea strikes me as rather odd. We have real ground coffee made in a cafetiere, we have wonderful Greek coffee made in a brik, some others even have instant coffee. But who is out there actually drinking coffee from coffee bags. Own up do you know about them, have you seen them, have you tried them, or would you just run away in horror looking for the nearest beans? | | | | | |

| | I've never heard of such a thing. But it doesn't surprise me in the least. I guess that I'd try it. It's only instant in a bag or is it? Seems like superfluous packaging though. | | | | | | |

| | p1kef1sh No it is not instant in a bag. If is was it would just dissolve into the water so why putr it in a bag? Actually it is ground coffee which you have to brew just like tea leaves. | | | |

| | I just recently heard of the coffee bags for the first time. A friend at work had some with her and our coffee machine broke. I was in desperate need of some caffeine so I tried one. I didn't think it was that good, but if it's all that's available, I'd drink it again. | | | | | | |

| | yeh, they've been popular here in the states for a number of years. the concept is fairly simple, like you pointed out, like a tea bag. It is basicly the same concept as dripping hot water through a ground coffee filled paper filter in a coffee maker. I've used a few brands before and found no real difference between it and regular brewed coffee. | | | | | | |

| | I don't know that I have ever seen spcificly greek coffe bags. Nestle, foldies and Maxxwell house have out out bags here, those are the ones I have seen. I LOVE my coffee strong, the stronger the better. If I am going to drink coffee, I want to be able to actually taste the coffee. Most people don't like the way i make it, you could almost disolve the spoon in it, lol. | | | |

| | In that case you should be on the Greek stuff, thick and black and strong enough to stand your teaspoon in. All those brands you've just described sound suspiciously like instant coffee to me which I never touch and is ludicrously more expensive anyway by the jar than a bag of the Greek stuff. We sell it to tourists over here as they are generally too frightened to try the Greek cafethedes. | | | |

| | all the breands I mentioned are available in either instant form or your basic gound coffee...oh and bags. I do drink instant coffee from time to time, sometimes it's just quicker and much better for camping/survival ventures. | | | |

| | Thea, u never miss at taking a dig at the u.s.a. one way or the other. I think u have some really strange habits there but i don't comment on them much. Open up your mind a little where we are concerned, would u please. I have never tried dunkin' doughnut coffee but i'm sure it is good or orao wouldn't be buying it or i'll say she likes it anyway. What is it u have againist the u.s.a. anyway???? | | | |

| | No, Thea, I buy my Dunkin' Donuts coffee in the supermarket.. it is the same brand that Dunkin donuts shot uses... it's about $7 a bag but very VERY good. No, the coffee bags are not instant.. they have coffee grounds in them just like drip coffee that you put in a coffee maker.. but they are individual servings... so the bag is very convenient... but too expensive for me, since I like coffee a lot. | | | |

| | What is strange about buying coffee in a grocery store? I don't know how you buy your coffee, but we are an on-the-go kind of culture.. so you can bring your coffee to work with you without lugging a coffee maker.. what's wrong with that? I would probably find some things strange about your country. I would find it strange to drink ouzo and eat pastries every afternoon, but I wouldn't call you strange or your country strange for doing it. | | | |

| | Fjaril you've confused me. I think you're talking about filter coffee coming through filter paper into a glass jug, not a tea bag full of coffee. Maybe. I've never tasted Canadian coffee of Swedish coffee so cannot judge on its merits. My coffee must NEVER be instant, it must be black and strong, and I have a prefence for Turkish and Greek coffee which is similar to expresso but much thicker, or good ground beans. So would I like Swedish or Canadian coffee more? | | | |

| | Alright, you two...you have rattled my "Maple Leaf." Canada, really is part of the 21st Century...and we can offer coffee anyway your little heart desires! We even have Tim HOrtons! fjaril...you worked in one restaurant that used "pod" coffee...NOT the norm, most popular manner of brewing in retail outlets.."drip." MOST perked coffee is in the homes...and around campfires. Most hotel/motel rooms use "pod" for the ease of clean-up for the maids! And one is almost denigraded, if one should offer instant coffee (statistically we consume the least instant coffee in the world.) Blah..and Ugh, to that stuff. Remember when hurling disparity...a Canadian is a few generations removed from one of YOUR homelands~~~so it's self inflicted injury! Maybe you shud "Google" Tim Horton's (famous coffee)...and find that it is the coffee house that all the troups in Iran, Irag & Afghanistan voted to have at their posts. HUGZ and Happy Holidays to you BOTH, from a devout Canuck Coffee Consumer! | | | |

| | WELL HIII! aah min kompis! YOU heard the rattle of the maple leaf! As long as it was not you! I do not mean to play down your wonderful country.. it is MINE also.. I am also a Canadian! I was not working in the cafeteria, I was having a coffee with my sandwhich I brought from home in the hospital where I worked.. But I did eat in other cafeterias and never tasted a coffee as good as ..... well I won’t say it. but I just wanted you to know I wasn’t meaning to bash your country. I am so daim proud of Canada it isn’t normal! and if I say to you that Canada had the best friendliest outgoing people in the world, in fact, for me, way beyond many other... but I won’t go there.. I would now be in trouble with all kinds of other people,, so I won’t say it either, even though I think it needs to be said because it comes from the heart. I am proud to have lived there and be one and I have family there.( but.. the coffee experience..er.. uhg....well,, it never happened, lets say. sorry. the next time I think to compare I will be ever so careful to not say anything. O yes I will...now! Tim Horton.. much experience with that and-- er ...........................sorry I cannot ! Thanks for putting me in my place,, wherever that may be.. I need to be reminded here.. rather often of late, I have noticed, that I do not sound very friendly or relaxed, when in fact I am both in reality. Don’t you hate it when someone seems on paper to be different than what they really are? Or don’t you think it is so? hmmm. ah don't mind me, I am a rather sensitive person of late I must need to see an analyst perhaps... are we still friends?? or.. did I blow it big time... | | | |

| | Well, you two dear souls....once more in Shirley life,~~~"Her ship didn't come in!" Further frustrations of living on a small Island....Ferries running 2.5 hours late, which would have allowed me 45 minutes of power shopping, and a $45.00 Ferry fare....that is #3 cancellation...and Xmas draws near! fjaril...my dear friend, you are duly chastised for wrankling my maple leaves! But if my dearly departed Father's COFFEE was any indication of what you, dear Swedes, consider consumable...I do understand you depths of despair! The percolator, (coffee pot, with a metal tube and basket)sat on the side of the wood stove day in and out! I committed the major sin, as a youngster...just as the angst of "housewifey" set in....AND WASHED THE FILTHY THING...OH MY GOSH, I was reminded on a daily basis...until the interior crust of coffee oils set up again...THAT,that was one of the world's foremost sins! fjaril...WHAT, pray tell, could overshadow all the wonders in YOUR world? I am truly sorry...that in this time of inspiration and spirit, something has edged you into doldrums. thea, dear girl......I don't know what your situation is, but in the short time could you NOT collect plastic barrels that have been used once for NON-TOXIC products. My dear son, collects 227.3 Litre plastic barrels, to which we easily add a tap....I collect roof water in them...I have a "flex" hose from the downspout and move it from barrel to barrel as they fill, then I pump up from them to the MAJOR tank...! For you, it would be a stop-gap measure until you can get a large tank...and not a bad investment, as I use them all the time! I even have one on a high platform, painted black, that I use as an outdoor shower. thea, sure wished your e-mail worked for me, as I could send some pics...can you and fjaril PM each other...possibly I could send that way...IF FJARIL has forgiven me...for all...AH, but I forgot to ask him! Hope your trip to the mountain was a lot more successful than my attempt to get off this rock. HUgs......Cheers....and Happy Holidays to you both! | | | |

| | Hi both, Shirley I don't need to resort to washing out all my toxic tanks to collect rainwater, we are lucky enough to have several spring water taps placed around the village so we just fill many bottles, it just doesn't come out of the tap as one would like. I'm glad to see that Shirly has cheered you fjaril. Oh and Aunty found my email did work when I sent to her but it ended up in her spam box or something. | | | |
