I am scared to go down in the basement. It is dark and really creepy down there. I have wooden steps that creek and I hate it. I have to go down the basement with someone always. I always have a feeling someone is watching me or following me. It freaks me out so bad. I have went down there by myself but I always end up screaming and freaking out and then end up running up the stairs. I absolutely hate my basement. It gives me the creeps way too much.

Not my basement, but my great grandfather's basement. Entry through the backyard. One of those doors built into the ground like on some old movie with a tornado. You go down some really long old wooden stairs in the dark, and fumble around trying to find a light switch. The house is frikin old. Skeleton key doorknobs, hidden rooms. You get the feeling something is there, and you need to find the light fast before it gets to you. There was also stairs going from the basement to the bathroom on the first floor. When I was a little kid if I had to use that bathroom, i would just stare at the knob waiting to see if it started turning.

Hidden rooms? You mean like secret rooms? Please tell me more! Sounds fun and different and maybe even a little creepy too, but I'm okay with that!
;)

Not much to tell. Its a big house. There are parts of walls that you can push on, and they open, and there's rooms in there. I'm not sure why they have them. Its an old house in Kittaning PY. Maybe hiding slaves, maybe prohibition. There's a large piano in one room, and my great grandmother would play it. If you had no idea the room was there, and you heard piano music playing, but didn't know where it was coming from , it would freak you out. Plus their neighbor had a patch on his eye, and I was very young (about 5), so I thought he was a pirate.

I feel the same way too sometimes lol. Maybe we've watched too many scary movies?! Seriously though, I live in a house that the original part was built in the mid 1800's, and the basement is really old. The floor joists (on the ceiling) are literally trees that were hewn. This basement doesn't bother me too much, but there are times I do get freaked out by the crawl spaces further back into the basement. Now, the house I grew up in, that basement scared the willies out of me. Not just because I was a kid, but it was definitely the spookiest basement I have ever been in even as an adult. There too, it was built in the same era as the house I live in now, only the one I grew up in wasn't refurbished with a concrete floor and stuff. I don't mind this basement in the daytime, but at night when I have to go down, it does tend to creep me right out.

I think that is your deepest fear. Or maybe you watch too much horror movies lately, that reflect it in your real life. Well, for me, I always afraid to go someplace dark and creepy too. Like in the movies, some creep might hide there and watch. Or there is might be a boogie man or some sort. It is much safe if you can go with somebody.

No! I love my basement! It's a bit seperate really to the rest of the house in a way so maybe that helps but it's just not that creepy despite the fact that I would guess my house is like 100 years old or something crazy. At the moment I'm setting up a kind of studio down there so I can do painting and stuff. It's great!

Now mirrors in the night, that might be another thing. I find mirrors a little weird at the best of times, somehow it's enhanced during the night. It's almost like it seems like a doorway into another world! and well, yes there is something that feels a little creepy about them.

Not my basement tho.

Hey maybe you could put a full length mirror in your basement to try and enhance the effect?

Hi, tuckersheri. I would be scared to go down the stairs myself. I hope that I never have a basement in my future home. If I do, I will make sure that I have a strong lock and key on my door. This door will be forbidden to go into! Stay safe and take care!hugs
