Drug Testing

When I was in high school they started random drug testing for student athletes. So, I've been thinking about this a lot recently. Do you think that random drug testing in students in high school should be limited to just the student athletes? Should it be done randomly throughout all students that are involved in extracurricular activities? Or should all students be randomly drug tested throughout the school year? Why do you feel this way about it? I have my own personal opinion, but I will save it for later so as not to sway the way that everyone else responds about it.

I think it should be done randomly. That way, maybe others can get help, before it is too late.

A very interesting question to say the least. I think at the very least, sports and other extracurricular should be tested. Its much like sports teams. The athletes who represent the teams should be tested, to maintain the integrity of the success of the team. The same thing goes for the students who represent the school against other schools. Other students not involved in these activities, well I would like to see that happen but it would be pushing it. It opens up a can of worms about if the school is pushing into the private lives a bit too much. Yes it will save lives and yes, it may get help for the students who are addicted. There is some justification for those who represent the school in sports and other activities. With the other students, there could be some of a justification that the schools may be pushing it a bit too far, even though it would be nice if they would do that.
