Who murdered Detroit?

I received this in an email. For the disclaimers PJTV is a conservative news blog. The commentator is going to point out the worst and show you one side because he has a point to make. What he shows is one of Americas great cities now looks like a war torn city that has been abandoned and left for a ghost town. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hhJ_49leBw The reporter points to the the failed liberal policies, self serving Labor Unions and failed government programs. Several weeks ago a talk radio show was talking about a Real Estate auction to sell houses in Detroit for as little as $1.00. After viewing the video I checked out the Real Estate Market in Detroit on Yahoo Real Estate. I was surprised that I found 151 houses for sale for under $1,000.00. Yearly Real Estate taxes were around $1500 TO $2500 per unit and you were responsible for the back taxes. This tells me that the people just walked away from these homes and left them. I decided to look at other cities and see what their results were and for contract I choose states that voted for McCain - Palin in 2008. These state also happen to be right to work state that do not require union membership to work at a job. I looked at Oklahoma City, OK and found that they had no houses for sale under $1,000. On Yahoo they did list houses and apartments for rent for under $1,000. I found the same results for Nashville, TN. In Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth I found 2 in each city that could be for sale but it didn't clearly say if the were for rent or sale. I found it interesting that when you took the reporters arguments it would seem that Detroit was killed by the actions of the Unions and Governments policies and programs. Do you agree or disagree?
