Bette Davis Eyes  email this discussion to a friend?

Jezebel is a 1938 movie starring the hauntingly beautiful Bette Davis. Here she played the role of the wayward Julie, trying to break every social mores of St Louis in courting a very young Henry Fonda. The acting was great especially by Bette though Henry Fonda came on as a bit green in those days. Watching the movie reminds me of some moments in 'Gone with the Wind'. The spread of Yellow fever, then named as yellow jack was pretty believable. The film ended with Fonda and Bette heading for Lafayette Island where those struck by yellow fever lived out their last days. The movie ended with a wagon heading to the island. I guess most will agree they both will die from yellow fever. Bette got her Best actress oscar from this movie. Quite a nostalgic trip down memory lane for me watching this movie. You can see the mesmerizing Bette Davis eyes every moment she appears in the movie. Has you see this film?

I saw that movie a long time ago, probably in TV after the film had become a classic. There are many movies that I like but don´t leave a print on me, but I clearly remember this one. Bette Davis was an incredible actress. She didn´t have the kinmd of beauty other movie stars of those times had, but her acting was superb.
In that movie, I clearly remember rebel Julie, wanting to do exactly as she wished in everything and not interested in anyone but herself. The end was moving and the only posible.
As for Henry Fonda, I also found him a little mellow. I liked much better his acting in The grapes of wrath although I don´t think I was a fan of him.

I forgot to say, I think somehow Bette Davis' eyes remind me alot of Aishwarya's eyes.
Maybe I am wrong.
