| | I like watching anime and martial arts movies with english subtitles because a lot of the coolest movies only came in their original languages. I had one time watch a french movie with english subtitles which was interesting following the story that way. | | | | | | |

| | Just like you, I also want to see and use the subtitles when I watch a movie in another language like Korean or Chinese. This way, I can understand what they are saying. When I watch English movies with subtitles, I can also activate the subtitle so that I can understand more and don't miss anything. IN other movies, I don't use the sub titles as long as I can understand them well and clear. There are movies today without subtitles. | | | | | | |

| | I like subtitles, because I am not a very sharp listener and most of the time I misinterpret the conversation. Like in the Lord of the rings , I had to get subtitles because I couldnt get some words that they were saying. I guess probably because English is not my first language , and anyhow I have too many languages in my head that I speak that I get confused. | | | | | | |

| | I often don't "catch" what is being said, so subtitles helps me too.. and it isn't in a foreign language... just plain English... and if I can't hear it.. it might as well be Chinese.. because I can't understand what is being said if it sounds like mumbling to me. | | | |

| | Even if there's an English language soundtrack available, I often prefer to wath foreign movies with subtitles. The reason for that is that the dubbing is often very badly done, and either the lip synch's not right or the voices don't match the appearance of the actors. The only exception I can think of is "Das Boat", in which they did a very good English dubbing job (I understand most of the voices were done by the actors themselves in that film). | | | | | | |

| | I really need subtitles to watch awesome japanese and korean movies. I don't know why but I find their movies more interesting. It is like there is a unique strategy to catch people attention for every countries :D Live action movies are the most watched movies by me. I am an anime fan so I basically also want to see how people will imitate animes and their character. Live actions are produced more by japanese so subtitles are really useful :D | | | | | | |

| | Well I only speak English and German, so obviously for other languages I prefer subtitles. Sometimes for the German ones also, as sometimes they speak in dialect or too quickly or something. But I find subtitles can be distracting sometimes. Sometimes they are funny when you know it's not really a great translation. But the ones that really crack me up are when they use English subtitles for people who are speaking in English but with accents. | | | | | | |

| | I prefer to watch movies with subtitles as I can clearly understand each and every conversation with correct words. My own mother tongue, Hindi and other south Indian languages are ok for me. But any other language including English, I prefer subtitles. Though I know English, still some times the pronounciation I may not follow. | | | | | | |

| | I wouldn't mind it. I watch a lot of old silent movies, which are pretty much the same as those with subtitles except all you hear is music and not voices. There are a lot of good movies out there in different languages and subtitles make them understandable--we can appreciate new talent and new thinking and ideas. I don't see any of those in my theaters and not on television, either. I would be interested though. Tonight I am watching a silent 1926 Russian movie called "Miss Mend" about a conspiracy to attack Russia with biological weapons. It is a very good movie!! The silents are just about the same as sub-titled movies, but without the voices. Have you ever watched a silent movie? They're great!! And nearly every country made them, it is so fascinating to see the silent movies (subtitled) from all those continents and countries! | | | | | | |
