The Second Lesson to be Learnt |
| |
| This is the second lesson President Obama learnt from his China trip. The Chinese are obsessed with ensuring kids get the right education - English, Maths & Science. They made sure that the education system reached even the most remote rural areas - today the literacy rate in China is OVER 90%, surpassing even the USA 's 86%. According to American Educationists, the Chinese kids are way ahead of the kids in the USA . Meanwhile in a third world country, the cranky devious politicians are determined to retract their education system to destroy the next generation and to bring them back into the stone age. So how does your country's education system compares to China's | | University of Beijing | | | | |

| | I'm Chinese.in 2006,the goverment carried out a new education system names nine-year compulsory education. the nine-year compulsory education including six years of primary school and three years of junior middle school.for the school fee is very small in these nine years, most of the kids will finish these nine years study. after nine years study, most of the students are literacy people and they are able to write, read and count. some developed cities including the city i am living in carried out twelve-year compulsory education, except nine years mentioned above,it have three years of junior high school. | | | | | | |

| | Wow, China is really well planned. It is definitely a great move towards a better future for the country. In Malaysia, we too are focussing in English, Maths and Science. However, lately there are some changes. I hope our leaders can follow what the China do in their education system so that we too can achieve high literacy rate! Thanks for sharing and happy myLotting :) | | | | | | |

| | Well, jonjee - India could learn a thing or two from Chinese adminstrators. Our education figures are apalling. Even to date, there are plenty of people out there in villages who can't read or write in their mother tongue, forget about English, Maths and Science. My maid doesnt know how much money I am giving her. To top it all, her daughter, who has been educated in local language thinks it is below her dignity to work! So it is unlikely that her children will get decent education! May be they will know how to read and write in English, but higher education is a suspect. | | | | | | |

| | Hi jonjee, I agree with you. I have read and seen on TV that the education a student gets in the US is lacking in comparison to an education that a student gets in other countries.. even European students are better educated than here in the US.. that is the general norm.. from what I have seen and read. Over here in the US.. kids are graduating high school and can't even read 6th grade level or do math past elementary level... I think measures are being taken to help ensure this does not keep happening.. from what I read and hear .. many high schools require the students to take an exam before they can graduate. Back when I went to school and even when my daughter went to school... students would get passed on out the doors without even being able to do the work... and then many of these same kids can't pass an SAT test to enter college... it seems that home schooled kids are often better educated than some public school kids. | | | | | | |

| | There are still lots of adults here in the states that can't read or do most any kind of math.. many people can't do math without using a calculator.. and that is sad. | | | |
