| |  Bush never gave a speech I am familiar with where he talked of the have nots... people George Bailey would say "do most of the living and dying in this town".
Obama for all of his shortcomings seems to get it... maybe from his time as a community organizer or hsi having to deal with the Democratic base, but he sees these people as people who need a voice in government.
I hope he is able to help give them that voice, Bush never did.
As a Rockefeller Republican, I also am impressed with how Obama in two weeks of the Northwest bomber being caught, came out with a detailed report of mistakes made and with some anger saying the buck stops with him... can't remember Bush doing that.

| | I think much like our beloved President John F.Kennedy the Bush administration would have rather that the people become self sufficient and not become like a dependent three year old begging for government hand outs.
I think it was President George W. Bush that did more for the people in Africa suffering from aids then any other person ~ ~

I agree, valentinesdiner, it was nice to hear a President admitting to mistakes and taking responsibility. As I recall, at the end of an entire term Bush couldn't think of a single mistake he'd made!

They're basically both just typical products of the political class, centrist types with a talent for mouthing the right slogans and appealing to the right interests to get elected.

| | Our problems have been building for more than 30 years.They didn't just happen overnight.They didn't all happen on Bush's watch,either.They are also not just Democrat or Republican problems.Both parties have helped screw this country up.
The simple fact is,Obama has no idea what he's doing and he proves it almost daily.All he's worried about is his own agendas,not what's best for the country.
