What do you think about those who prophecy about doom?

We often heard by so many people who claim that the end is near, that the doom we feared to happen will happen on given exact time. My friend told me a story about a place where there's someone who prophecy about the coming of God so the people believe on him that they keep their self in a cave, waiting for God to come and they will be save. And so they live in a cave for months until all of them get sick and soon died. It's a terrible story. That's why no matter what other people said that the time is near I never believe only God knows when is that time. Those kind of people who claim they know, only lead the people astray.
Do you think those people who claim that doom is near do good to us? What do you think about them?

I believe god is coming again but to place a time and place on it - well that is just insane. God wouldn't want me to kill myself based on his coming. I believe that was one of the 10. Those people followed a false prophet and in the end met their god before their time on earth was through. Living in fear that the end in near is not living at all. No one should live that way.

Yeah, we should not be afraid of the end of the world. Since it's not the end it's only the beginning of a new life with Christ. But it's our human nature and we can't help it. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

People like this like attention. These so called prophecies of doom and destruction don't scare me. In fact, they make me laugh. They make me laugh that people will swallow such obvious and utter tripe. These people who say such things are either following the lead of someone who has deluded themselves into believing it or has created the delusions. A few times, its a monetary scam. The moral of the story is be careful who you trust. The world could end at any time but I think when it does happen, there will be no forewarning. It will be boom, done, over, finished.

Yeah, those kind of people just want attention or they just want scare us. Whatever reason they may have, it's purely selfish. You're right we should be very careful to whom do we trust and believe. In order for us not to get astray. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

Matthew 24:11 (New International Version)
11and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.
Jesus told us that not all prophets should be believed. But in the context, he did tell us the time period when he would return to remove wickedness and the signs that would help us identify the time period but not the day and the hour.
Well, some scientists after studying the movement of the the Tectonic plates told the Haitian government that a great earthquake would hit the area of Port-au-prince. They could not foretell the day and hour but did tell them it was coming. The Haitian government did nothing about it and we can see the results. Not all that warn of disasters are false prophets.
From my careful study of the Scriptures, we are due for a gigantic change in human affairs. I beg all lovers of God to study carefully the predictions in the Scriptures and take positive action. No, not by hiding in caves. But by living each day as an imitator of Christ Jesus.
Matthew 24:21 (New International Version)
21For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again.

I think these people are being manipulated. There must be something weird going on if doomsday only happens to big countries. I think we are are being led away from the bigger picture. We are being taught not to hope for greatness since there is future in store for us anyway. Isn't it weird that these theories proliferate in times of great crisis. I mean are we expected to be docile and be uncomplaining through this times 'coz the future is much bleaker anyway?
