Our broken medical system sending medical ppl and medical equipment to Haiti  email this discussion to a friend?

Good bless the U.S.A.she is always one of the first responders to any international crisis in the world and the 7.0 earth quake in Haiti is a great example of just how great our medical system really is.
The U.S.A.is sending brain surgeons to OBYN doctors and nurses they can operate on a persons brain, remove a foot or a arm or help deliver a child on the spot.
Let's the red white and blue lead proudly and unselfishly as she always has in every international crisis around the world, let's be proud to be an Americans.

They are doing a great job, keep it up, they need it the most right now. Our system is fine by the way, just need some adjustments.

Is very proud to be an American, I just dont agree with alot of the political outlook or decisions that they make all the time. Rose our medical system is not broken for crying out loud we have some of the best of the best in every field. It is the medical insurance that has fallen apart and needs to be corrected in some area's.

I have already made my pledge to Haitti I made my donation that is my personal contribution. If I could be out and about I would help the American Hattians that are my neighbors in any way possible unfortunately that is not an option for me at this moment. May the ones that did not make it rest in peace and may the ones that survived be blessed with healing.

Rose is being sarcastic. We have a wonderful medical system that just needs a few tweaks--and a population that needs to be re-taught a sense of responsibility, independence and personal pride so they can take care of themselves and not depend on the government. Of course, that would rob the gov't of power so it won't happen. Putting us deeper into debt by claiming to fix a "broken" medical system is one of their weapons to keep us dependent.

I'm proud of our medical system. I'm happy with it. I'm grateful that we can help other countries so quickly and I think the greatest threat to that system is our power-hungry government.

At tragic times like these we can always count on our nation and our people being the first to help and the most generous with our time, abilities and money and I agree, we should all be proud to be Americans right now. I must say, seeing the destruction in Haiti and the death toll could reach six figures really has a way of putting things into perspective, in my opinion.

Our medical professionals have always been among the best in the world, nobody I've seen has disputed that. We have great hospitals from small town local facilities to huge university medical centers and state of the art medical equipment. The system that is broken is the way it's paid for which leaves many Americans without access to it. I'll be a very proud American when we come up with a way to proudly and unselfishly make sure every American has access to the best our medical system has to offer.

So, your not so proud right now? I do hope this was a mis speak. I personaly think we still have an awfull lot to be proud of. I do agree whole heartedly we have absolutely got to find a constitutional way to help folks get access to ways to pay for what is in fact the best medical care on the planet, but this doesn't make me not proud.

Yes, I'm proud now, X, but does that mean I have to be "proud" of each and every thing about my country? Can't someone be proud of their country and be patriotic while still believing there are things that could be improved upon?

No worries annie, i kinda figured thats what you meant, it was just the generality of the phrasing that confused me for a moment...lol...it's me...im easily confused

I'm proud of the fact that our current President has asked his two immediate predecessors to take charge of raising funds like Bush did with his father and Clinton after the tsunami. It's nice to see people working together without any partisan bickering, isn't it?

well, it's what we're known for,i think we are putting out one hell of an effort down there and we did so as fast as we could. I am just waiting for the world to start complaining like they did after the tsunami...about how "stingy" we are....oh well...we know batter at least.

SO here we are again, in the aftermath of another major natural disaster and human suffering of untold proportions. I am pretty pleased with the response to this from our nation so far, even pretty happy so far with Obama's reaction and actions. this is going to be incredibly difficult. even just getting the relief there is going to be a nightmare. There is one airport, with one runway. the enire infastructure is nearly destroyed down there, gone. We are fighting an uphill battle. and the last thing I am going to do is critisze any efforts. things are pretty bad. Even in the indian ocean tsunami, there was at least infastructure a little ways in land. This is totaly different, there is absolutely nothing left to work with.

I think it is great that the US is helping out, but how can we afford to send help to other countries when we have people here that need just as much - if not more - help than those in Haiti?

myLot reputation of 88/100. grammasnook (1333)   ranked 129 out of 3,985 in politics  3 years ago

How can we not afford it? You know there are 40 thousand Americans in Haitti would you suggest that we just leave them there to die?

we have people here that need just as much - if not more - help than those in Haiti?

Are you really kidding me? If we do not help a whole nation of people would be left to die. Do you honestly think it is that bad here? I surely dont. They do not have a homeless shelter down the street nor a food pantry or a soup kitchen to go and eat. They are in a diseased area right now due to all the death and destruction they can not escape the smell of rotting bodies. HONESTLY THE STATEMENT YOU MADE IS SO IGNORANT I sit and watch the news all day long I see the destruction and the death the children that are starving and dying. It is the attitudes like yours that can definately make an impact on the way people in the world look at us as a nation. Tell you what why dont you take a plane go to Haitti and then tell me the people here need just as much if not more help than the people in Haiti

Don't get me wrong, this is all nice and what not, someone should help out...BUT the United States does EVERYTHING. We're wasting money on an overseas conflict that we will never win, we are always the 1st to help other people out, ect. Don't you think it is time for another country to step up and take the lead?

We are in a recession, have BILLIONS of dollars in national debt. Our economy is not turning around. More layoffs are in the future. We can't even help out our own people in times of tragedy, how can we afford to fly people to Haiti and send so much money to help people in another country?

I'm proud of the way that we responded too. So sad that the poorest country in the western hemisphere got hit so hard, and how much worse would it have been if nobody had jumped in to help.

I am surprised and proud at the effort that has gone forth towards the relief effort. At one point I saw that 73 million dollars had been raised through text messaging and efforts from several organizations. That is amazing!!! I wish the response for Hurricane Katrina had been this swift but it also shows that it could have been. Thank you for modern technology as well. It is very saddening to see the people in Haiti struggling through this crisis but it does bring some relief to know so many are helping to bring this country back to life so to speak.

This may actually be the best thing that happened to this country from an international standpoint. All eyes are on Haiti now, a country who could have used help in the past. Maybe things will change in the near future but for now they need to make it through this horrible tragedy...

"Can Americans be proud of their failure, in replacing the housing of Black Americans, destroyed by Hurricane Katrina?"

Once again there is the ignorance, the government deinately failed in a quick response but the American people did not. They ran to the aid of their fellow Americans. They opened their hearts and gave everything they could possibly give. Then opened their homes and their hearts as well as their pockets. You say Black Americans, the hurricane effected all American not just the black population every nationality lived within that area, if you make a statement make sure you make the correct one. The government failed the less fortunate people of Hurricane Katrina.
