What brand of toilet paper do you use and why do you prefer it? |
| |
| I have been using angel soft most of the time unless there is a really good sale going on with another brand. Toilet paper is really expensive when you consider how quickly it has to be replaced. Anyway, I cannot remember if I bought angel soft or a sale brand last time...got 24 rolls and threw out the labeled wrap. Nearly every dang roll is glued so tightly that I nearly unwind half the roll trying to get it loose (ok, half the roll might be an exaggeration). Point being that much of the roll is wasted before I even get to use it. I like a brand to be soft, but not so soft it is mushy and tears up, not glued so tightly it uses several sheets just to get it so it will unwind and a brand that is not priced to take your weeks budget. Are you happy with the brand you use, do you just buy what is on sale or what? | | toilet paper | | | | |

| | Hi D! I have to say, this is not a topic I thought I'd be discussing outside my family! lol We buy toilet paper in bulk also, but I like the store brand at the store where we shop. Price Chopper, which is a local brand only. However, it reminds me of Cottonelle, which I like--also similar to Angel Soft. I've used that too. Sometimes, as you discovered unfortunately, the cheapest brands don't always end up saving you money in the long run. Either there isn't enough on the roll, or it's glued through too many layers, like you said, or the sheets are so thin, that you end up using twice as much as you would otherwise. As long as Price Chopper keeps offering this brand, I'll stick with it. If they change, then I'll have to go hunting again. :-) | | | | | | |

| | So right Holly, about the cheaper brands. I do try to stay with a decent name brand but must have goofed this last time. Did not know Price Chopper had a brand...not sure if there is a price chopper here, haven't seen one yet. Will have to do a search and see. | | | |

| | I tried the Scott brand and felt it was just a little stiff but that was a while ago. But I sure like the Scott brand paper towels..buy them in a 6 pack and they are strong and last forever. Thanks for your insight cream. | | | |

| | Hi, I checked my linen closet and I discovered that I use Scott Naturals. It works pretty great. I love Charmain tissue too. It is very soft. When I shop, I will usually buy tissue that has a good bargain. I also like for my tissue to be very soft. But, I have not found an tissue that is a great bargain that has very soft tissue. | | | |

| | It depends whats on special offer. Its one of the few things that I dont buy the "super value" versions of. I usually go for Charmin' (which has embossed bears on it... I dont know if thats a reference to the rhetorical question "Does a bear sh!t in the woods?" or a soft-but-strong concept)Kleenex Kitten soft (tho' the idea of wiping your bum on a kitten really doesn't sound effective to me knowing how kittens jump out of your arms and roll round your carpets but...)or Andrex (the one made from puppies) I remember that schools and public conveniences used to have Izal which was like tracing paper with zero absorbency. When I was on teaching practice a little girl drew me a picture on Izal. She gave it too me, looked down and shuffled her feet as she said "Sorry 'bout the paper miss but we didnt have no other paper at our 'ouse". It meant a lot to me that she'd taken the time and trouble to do that and I kept it for years (of course, that was back in the days before we cotton-woolled ourselves against germs) | | | | | | |

| | Hi wizzy, thank you for your humorous and heartwarming response. Charmin is usually out of my price range except when I find it on sale. Love you story about the drawing on tp. The stores are the same way, the paper is so thin and scratchy it barely does the job. | | | |

| | We use Scott, not because it's nice and soft, but because it is bio-degradable and doesn't plug up the toilets. We've used other kinds over the years, but we turned to this when a colleague recommended it, and she was right. We have no problems any more. | | | | | | |

| | Hi Paints. A number of years ago I discovered Quilton toilet rolls and haven't bought anything else since. Quilton, as its name suggests, is air-quilted, with a design stamped into the layers. The quilt design is either colourless or has a coloured outline in the centre layer. It is a 3 ply and VERY soft but has enough body to prevent the fingers from breaking through. We prefer Quilton to other brands and I usually buy two x 9 roll packs when it is on special, which works out to less than 50 cents per roll. | | | | | | |

| | Hello CW, so good to see you here, I hope you are regaining some energy. I have never heard of that brand. I wonder if we have it here. I will have to do a google search. Sounds like a good brand at a reasonable price. | | | |

| | Thanks D. I've just realised you have turned blue - or your star has. Congrats! It didn't take you long. You're evidently doing the right thing. I had a red 93/100 when stars were first introduced years ago and it remained there, and was still the same when I returned here. It recently went to a 94/100 so maybe I'm doing something after all. | | | |

| | Depending on which browser you are using, either just hover the mouse over the star and a window will appear "myLot rating of 96/100" or RIGHT click the star and then click properties in that window, and all the info will show in another window. | | | |

| | for the most part we buy Quilted Northern Ultra Plush, 3 ply. It's soft, and that's what matters most for me. When we are having a tight month we will go to a cheaper brand but I usually end up complaining the whole time because I don't like what we had to buy. But we do make do. | | | | | | |

| | Cool, thanks for the tip. I did not know there was one here that was 3 ply. I may have to give it a try. Should last longer because 3 ply would mean using less sheets. | | | |
