...Yes, I'd be very disturbed. Why, of all the celebrities she could've picked, does she choose to idolise that one? I can honestly say I can't think of any worse celebrity role models. D:

I suppose your neice was only 6 or 7 years old when Paris Hilton started singing. Actually before that not too many kids were exposed to her. In fact, they did not know her at all. But now she is popular among kids because of her song which I guess is called stars or something. As far as I remember her it sounded too childish. An adult definitely would like that, but kids are naturally attracted to that kind of sound. So it pulled them to Hilton's direction. Also she uses light colored things. Even her ferrari is pink! Those colors are also responsible for attracting kids. They don't know the real truth that hangs behind that glow. Otherwise, they would have not thought of taking her as the role model.
Your niece one day will realize how silly she was when she was 11. Transitional period always makes one think what she did in the past was totally insane.

I would be extremely disturbed if my daughter had any kind of attraction towards Paris Hilton. I suppose before anything like that could happen I would teach her that the kind of life personality Hilton has is trashy. But I suppose by that time Paris Hilton would be almost an old woman. So she might not come on tv that much.

Coming back to Paris Hilton…well she’s famous for just being famous so I don’t think any lesser mortal girl would ever be like her…and then your niece would have to have that Hilton name and money…

If a child has an inappropriate role-model, it is the parents job to find other things that interest the child to change their focus. At 11 years old a child's mind will change many many times. It is up to the parents to mold the values of the child.

wow. I would feel disturbed especially when it comes to this who%$. Excuse the language but she is not a good role model at all, maybe for who*& she is a good role model but definitely not for your 11 year old niece. Where are her parents? no offense but your nice has no business on checking out Paris Hilton way of life because she is rated-R. She should be crazy for Winnie the pooh or something else, but not Paris. Our society is going down the drain. Today's kids are way more experience than us at times. Good lord.

Talking like her? LOL that's funny. I can imagine it. I admit I sometimes imitate Paris' way of talking but I do it just for fun because I love imitating people.

You better tell your niece about it. Role models can affect one's life drastically, real or imagined.

i think your child isn't aware of the paris hilton we grown-ups know of. it's like the madonna thing way back then. i know there are some parents then who were concerned when their little ones would emulate madonna back in those days. children learn things fast and in due time, coupled with the values parents would instill in them, they wouldn't be far off from what is good and would be able to choose who to really look up to and even idolize.
