Thursday night on MSNBC I listen to Keith Olberman's rant on the decision of the United States Supreme court earlier that day.
I did not understand some of what he was so upset about,it seemed he was deeply upset over the U.S. Supreme courts decision I got that but he went on to calling Americans citizens tea baggers and calling them all a bunch of bas**ers,he lost me there I don't understand what the Supreme courts decision had to do with people that attended the tea parties, could some one explain this to me?

I didn't hear it but once I found out what "teabagger" meant (hint-it's a sexual act) I was offended to hear myself referred to in that manner. While I don't attend tea parties because of my physical limitations, I support them and I don't appreciate being insulted by the extreme left.

I think the extreme faction of both sides have lost perspective and have turned into raving lunatics.

Actually it was Fox News Reporter Griff Jenkins who first used that term, saying something to the effect of "Let's teabag them before they teabag us!"

Annie, that's not the same thing as calling someone a teabagger. If you could hear the inflection in the voices--in your instance there was determination, in the instances I've heard there is sly glee and loathing.

Well I have no idea what it has to do with the Tea Party people. THe supreme court decision basically opened the flood gates on how much money a corporation, or group could donate to a campaign. It also took some restrictions off about how a political commerical can be done.
Bad news for the american public....and if I know the Tea Party movement (and Restore the Republic, C4L and all the other groups out there) they are NOT happy and won't take this laying down.
The supreme court just ruled it legal for the rich and powerful to buy elections and our elected officials.
Makes you feel warm and fuzzy don't it?

First of all, I can't remember Keith's exact words and I don't have the transcript in front of me but I can tell you when he used words like "ba$tard$" he wasn't referring to average American citizens but to the big money organizations that are behind the funding for the tea party movements. I'll try to summarize what he was getting at as briefly as possible. Right now some of those who support the tea parties may think yesterday's Supreme Court decision to be a victory for free speech since some of their "heroes" in the GOP such as the Minority Leaders of both the House and Senate have said so, but Keith warns that eventually there will be no real freedom of speech for individuals because all politicians and government entities, all media outlets and everything else will be "owned" by corporate interests and other special interest groups.

The McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reform Bill was one of John McCain's proudest moments and one of the time he reached across the aisle to work with members of the other party. I don't know if he's backing away from his own bill, but he's only said that he's "disappointed" by yesterday's ruling.

...Hi kennyrose, If you look at this ruling closely and maybe some of the America people who are too busy trying to keep their heads above water and survive will. The Supreme Court in effect took democracy out of the hands of the people and gave it to the corporations and unions and those who have deep pockets of money. These people whoever they are, can now go out, more than they have in the past and literally purchase a candidate of their choice and put him or her there in office to champion their cause, forget elections, there will be the power of the green dollar bill which will call the shots. No checks, no balances, just unfettered money for the will of those who have it to pass out, with the law standing behind them. The right and the left should be outraged by this action. Keith is outraged at the big picture. At this moment in time, we all have been thrown to the wolves, and he who has the money will control the future of the political field. It is dangerous and destructive to the entire system of democracy, unless this somehow is changed. Take it easy.
