| Hi Friends, Adding flaxseed oil to the diet could reduce the risk of osteoporosis in post-menopausal women and women with diabetes. Osteoporosis is a disease characterized by low bone mass and structural deterioration of bone tissue, leading to bone fragility and an increased risk of fractures of the hip, spine, and wrist. For women, bone loss is fastest in the first few years after menopause, and osteoporosis is most common in women after menopause, when it is called postmenopausal osteoporosis. The presence of so-called "omega-3 fatty acids" in flaxseed oil may play a role in protecting the processes of matrix formation and bone mineralization, which are apparently compromised by diabetes and menopause. It is evaluated how flaxseed oil in the diet might delay the onset of osteoporosis. Even Flaxseed's are excellent source of the omega-3 essential fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), as well as phytoestrogens known as lignans. They are a very good source of dietary fiber, magnesium, potassium, and manganese. And the best way as how to use/eat the flax seeds is first dry roast on non-stick pan/tava on slow flame for 3-4 minutes and then coarse grind and have it in the morning 1tbs is sufficient for the day.. u can add that in milk, its taste good, its not at bad or not eatable. The reason why you have to grind and have it is: You get more benefit from the milled kind because it's easier for your body to digest. The good stuff is inside the seeds, so it's not absorbed as well when in seed form. Here is some more useful information: Flaxseeds are known as ALSI in Hindi, Gujarati, and Punjabi, Ali Vidai in Tamil.
