Birthday Blues  

Before I was in a relationship, I had many birthdays were no one would say happy birthday or anything to me on that day. I live with my mother and she is jkind of non-emotional person and can't express her feelings, so just wouldn't say anything. I'm 25 and I have lived with her my whole life and she never thre me a party or said happy birthday. It was like a regular day.Once in high school, I had friends that would wis me a happy birthday and once they even through me a suprise party, saying they appreciated me because I was the only one that wasn't talking about/gossiping about everybody else,lol. When I was younger I was in an after school program and the director would alway bake all of the kids a cake for this with a birthday in a particular month. So birthdays were not always a happy time for me since it reminded of how I was not special enough to my family. I believe that I get wiser every year. We are missing something, if we let a year go by and we have not grown in some way. All my experience for each year shape me into a more mature and sensible person. I agree, every birthday bring us closer to a birthday we will not make it too, we don't know when, but that's the scary part. Now that I am in a erelationship I have at least one person that never forgets to make my bday special.

Yes, you're right. It really sounds scary thinking that we become older every year. But this is a fact and we must learn to face it. Anyway, I have experienced a birthday celebration in the past wherein I really cried and felt so sad. That was when I had an argument with my boyfriend on the day of my birthday. I was really expecting a happy birthday that time but I was so frustrated because I ended up crying.

Little kids love Birthdays,and it's common to hear them say "I'm x and a half" or "X and three quarters"..Whereas by the time they get to adulthood,they're conveniently "forgetting" a few years from their total so that they don't appear so Old! A guy I work with has NEVER announced what age he is when we realise it's his birthday..(I can't talk..I play my cards close to my chest here,too..being twice as old as some of those I'm working with is something I want to keep quiet..still,it could be worse..It could be 3x !)It's got to the stage that it's a milestone,not an achievement..and I'm coming up to a biggie in the not too distant future..) So,Yes,Birthday Blues do happen,but you try not to let them get you down!

yeah, same with me and older people find it unhappy to celebrate birthday when they accomplish nothing they becomes the sources of irritation from teasing.

Yes birthday blues coming up for me next month. It does not have anything to do with me getting older - I just don't have my life together the way I want it to be, so I am not in a celebrating, carefree type of mood. Plus my birthdays were rarely celebrated during my childhood, so I am not big on birthdays. For this year on my birthday, I do not want any birthday wishes or gifts I really truly want to be left alone - that would actually make me feel better.
