What did you do with your wedding dress? |
| |
| my mother currently gave me back my wedding dress (it was being stored in her cedar cabinet) and knowing i plan on staying married and knowing i would NEVER be 100lbs again (i was deathly skinny) i figured i would sell it. i dont have any kids to pass it down to and i would hope they wouldnt be so sickly to fit into it lol.. some people are so against sellign them but i figure really thats all i can do with it.. or let it rot which would be too much a shame. did you keep your wedding dress? do you fit into it still? has anyone ever worn the dress to more than one wedding that has been married more than once? (just curious!) or did you keep it to pass on to your future kids? i feel like a freak in selling it but i cant stand having things sit around and not be used and know that only time will hurt it and it will never be used again! | | | | | |

| | My wedding gown was kept in my mother's cabinet. Honestly, I really don't know what to do with it. My mom is the one who are sentimental about things so she is really the one keeping my wedding gown like a treasure. By the way, did I mention that she is also keeping my elder sister's gown (she's 9 years my senior)? lol | | | | | | |

| | i was surprised when my mom gave me mine back because she is the type to be sentimental but it was obvious i would have to be in poor health to fit into it again and who would want that?!?! but yeah i was shocked when she was like saying she had it if i wanted to sell it | | | |

| | I did our grow my wedding dress eventually. I was 4 months pregnant with my son when I got married. I had this same wedding dress on as I was getting married. I kept my wedding dress in the closet hung up. Then it got moved around to an storage container for many years. | | | |

| | You might want to check and see if there are any cosignment shops near you. They will sell it for you and keep a certain percentage. I have never been married so do not have a wedding dress story to tell. No sense keeping it. If you have no cosignmnet shop maybe you could donate it to a church in a poorer area and perhaps new brides can borrow the dress for their wedding. It could bring a whole new story to your dress in the future. I can just see it! Year 2020........young girl weds in a gown as the 30th person to wear the gown. | | | | | | |

| | I love it! Things are always made easier with humor. I could have used that ad when I sold mine because my first marriage was definately a mistake. My second husband and I didn't do the big wedding thing and it was much more enjoyable for us, so no second wedding gown to deal with. | | | |

| | I'm not sure where my wedding dress is because I didn't end up wearing it. My husband and I both are shy and after planning the wedding for a few months we decided it wasn't what we wanted. It just kept getting bigger and bigger and we got freaked out at the thought of standing in front of all those people. So we went to the Justice of the Peace and did it. My sister wore the wedding dress for her wedding 2 years ago so I'm sure it is at her in laws in storage or something. Ofcourse it was altered to fit a 6th month pregnant belly so it would have to be changed for anyone to wear it. I think most brides would want to pick out their own wedding dress, not wear one their mother wore. Especially since the styles will change in the roughly 20 years since your parents got married. | | | | | | |

| | Well, I would never fit into my wedding dress either, as I was only 125 at the time. Added to that, I got divorced and remarried so I have no sentimental attachment to it. Because I never had any children I decided to sell it. I'm not one to hang onto things that have no further use and it would have taken up much needed space. | | | | | | |

| | yeah it would just go to waste and all the work of the person that made it would be wasted.. it annoys me about wedding dresses (or even the bridesmaids dresses) are they are pretty much a use once then discard because what can you really wear them to again? | | | |

| | I had mine professionally preserved. It is a box with a window in it where you can see the top of the dress. The box is at my mom's house in my old bedroom in the closet. I wish that I could still fit in to it but I was a tiny little 108 pounds when I got married. So far no one has worn the dress but me, but my daughter is only 13 so if she wants to wear it someday she is more than welcome too. | | | | | | |

| | I know my wife still has hers at her moms house. I'm not sure why she is keeping it but I would never tell her to toss it. Although our wedding was a disaster the marriage was not based on that day thank goodness. I guess you could donate it if you don't want it. They styles will change for you kids and I don't think that is something that can be passed down anyway. But, what do I know I'm a guy. Wedding dress $2,000, tuxedo rental $75.00. Nuff said. | | | | | | |

| | Let me start by saying, unfortunately I had 2 wedding dresses. I made a terrible mistake with my first husband, but had an incredibly beautiful wedding dress completely hand made. I designed it and had it custom made out of beautiful silk with bugle beads and pearls. It was exquisite. After the wedding I did have it cleaned and professionally boxed and stored. After my marriage ended, I actually threw it in the trash. yup...right into the dumpster. Didn't bother selling it or even giving it away..in the trash it went. I thought I could never wish the type of marriage this dress brought me on anyone. Now, my second wedding dress I bought right off the rack at JC Penney's. I think it was even on sale! I actually still have it hanging in my closet 12 years later. I've even worn it out on special occasions :-) | | | | | | |
