our church have been studying about fasting a pastor by the name of jentzen franklin wrote about fasting. I was absoutely shocked and amazed it definately made me rethink what we eat. our pastor was saying there was a study done the the average person consumes 4 pounds of sugars,dyes&chemicals a year no wonder there are so many people sick. They my family eats I dont think is bad because we cut out compeletly eating out. We stop buying store bought fruit juices and started making our own juice. My kids used to be bad about drinking cool aid I have stop that compeletly and replaced it with the juice and water. yeah it was rough at first becuase your geting rid of all those toxicans in your body but once you get past the first few days your fine now in fact my kids will perfer juice or water over something else. In the book of daniel it's talked about how daniel fasted and that he didnt eat of the kings (or choice) food which was meats breads ect.now im not saying there's anything wrong with those foods if there prepared properly and in moderartion. It's really about a lifestyle chance more than anything and yeah it takes work but its yours and your family's health. I never really had any major issues with my kids behavoir but since we've been eating this way and something as simple as cutting out the cool aid has made a big difference in my kids.

while we havent studies that in church, (but have studied Daniel) we have a niece that is allergic to a number of different foods and that really makes you look at the foods we eat and what they contain.
here in canada, companies are required to put not only what the food ocntains on the packaging but how many calories and what vitamin content the food item contains. it really does help you if you read it.

That is so good that you have been able to accomplish this. I heard about the sugar from Doctor Oz and all things that are white in foods. I have now cut out all things that are white in my diet, from flour, sugar, white bread, milk etc.. I only eat whole wheat bread and maybe 1 slice a week. I drink only hot tea, iced green tea, grapefruit and promengrate juice. I eat in moderation everything. I also have cut out all red meat. In fact I only eat chicken once a week. I love pasta but have switch to whole wheat pasta and its just as good as the regular one. I love eating fruits and vegetables. I have also added one piece of dark chocolate every other day. Everything in moderation and just putting good things in your body will keep you from getting sick. My daughter, son-in-law and grandchild live with me. In the past four months they have all been sick twice now. I have not gotten sick and I'm sure its because of the way I eat.

Sugar is bad and substitute sugar is worse. I know that we should fast and pray and when you do it really allows God to speak to you in a way that he can reach you. I cut out some stuff with my kids and now they don't even mind it. It has to start at home though, tv and other influences are your battle zones. Go super mom!

i don't think the extra ingredients added in food is as bad as some people say they are. much of it is used to preserve food from spoiling. i can buy 100% juice at the store so i feel no need to get a juice machine. i thought about getting fruit from the product section at the store and using a juice machine to make them produce into liquid. in the end though buying all the produce to make fruit juice would cost more than just buying the pure juice in a bottle so decided not to do it. it could be more healthy using something like a juice-man juicer to make your own juice but i'm not willing to pay all that money as of right now.

my parents do that also. we make our own juice out of fresh fruits. i think it's really effective. we've been very much healthy lately.

I like to fast every now and then to test my body to see how long it can go without eating. I think the longest I've gone with no food is 2 or 3 days and that was no food at all and just water. It makes you feel amazing when you finally eat a well balanced meal after fasting because you can literally feel the nutrients being absorbed by your body.
There are a lot of people out there that may not have the willpower to be able to not eat food for a day. However there are a lot of people out there that don't even have the choice. Some people starve everyday not by choice and I think that if we could all learn to fast every now and then, then there would be more food for the world.

Fasting is good for not only the soul but for the body also as you have learned. It is amazing how a few things taken out of ones diet can change even personalities and behavioral habits. My son was diagnosed with ADHD 10yrs ago at the age of 5 like so many other children today. I read every book there was to read. Medication knowing the side effects and that they are in reality class two narcotics were not an option. Most doctors and parents of many of these books pointed out diet. I followed their advice and to my surprise and some allergy testing the child did not and does not have ADHA. He has allergies and sensitivities to foods, mold, animal dander and pollen from pine trees and some grasses. The foods include dairy, red dye, citrus and yes sugar.

ya, I allready feel the good effect of fasting, i cure my sotomack disorder. well maybe it is because that, it gave opprotunity to degestion organ to heal the wound and didn't work too hard.

every one month in a year I do fasting.besides for body health, it give good affect to my soul. it makes me more patient and less stressfull

christylynn hi i am a diabetic and until I came here to Gold Crest I was in complete control of my diet. I subsisted mainly on lots of fresh fruits and veggies and lean chicken or beef or fish, whole grains, lo fat milk, and cheese, whole grain pastas. I read labels and did not buy foods with a long list of preservatives, if there were any that brand I did not buy. and I kept my weight stable. Now here I am at the mercy of the cooks and the dietitian and sometimes the food is healthy and a lot of the time its just so so. I do supplement when I can with raw fruit and some tomatoes and things I do not have to cook. I have gained weight which makes it harder to control my diabetes so have to cut back on the amount of food I eat. great discussion.
