Have you ever talked to someone on the phone that would not stop talking!  

almost everybody hav few friends like that and yes ofcourse they irritate us daily but when ur alone and nobody wants to listen you then u can freely share with those person..atleast this is one major advantage

Getting good conversation means it should always be a two way communication. And each conversation should be on topic each individual has interest on. If one does not have interest on the topic or simply sees it as a waste of time, then its the time to hang-up or change the topic. For me, if I cannot change the topic of both our interest then I would politely say to hang-up and talk to him/her later. Its not only happening over the phone but in real face to face conversations.

My ex boyfriend always do that. When he call me, he will never stop to talk. But i really dont like the topic he talks. He always trigger a fight with me. Sometimes i think that he calls me only to have fight with me. I really don't know what he wants. So now, if he calls me i never pick up his call. I'm so lazy to have fight with such guy on the phone. And i dont really care if i'm being rude with him, because i dont pick up his call. I just don't want have headache after talking with him and fighting on the phone.

It happens all the time. But there are polite ways to get them off the line. I normally say that there is somebody at gate or my other phone is ringing or sometimes I even say that I am expecting an urgent call and that I would want my line to be free. At the same time I feel that I am guilty too sometimes going on and on!!

I completely agree! I'm not a big fan of the phone anyway. When people call me and just ramble on, I usually don't mind too much. For all I care they can hold up both ends of the conversation while I tend to more pressing issues. I just lend the occasional,"yeah,""of course,"or"why not?" When it becomes more than I can bear I let them know, and say my good-byes. It really bothers me when I'm in a face to face situation and the person I'm with can't pull themselves away from talking, texting, tweeting, or incessantly checking their facebook account. It's become a social epidemic. I don't know when it became acceptable to throw the art of conversation out the window in exchange for the warm, safe isolation supplied by an I Phone.
I find most of these people to be more or less attention starved, so afraid to miss a "shout out" from an unseen friend they can't just relax and have a good time with the people that are actually surrounding them.

We have all dealt with people like that...my solution "Got something on the stove,,,got to go...catch you later, Bye" and hang up. If they call back, I do not answer...you know sometimes phones just act up. I know it sounds a bit rude but wasting my time is equally rude...and in the end, they find someone else more willing to chat.

i do have a regular caller who's like that. with anyone else i would really love to spend time talking... but not during working hours. this particular caller calls at all times of the day early, and even late nights too. mostly to unburden stress. she will keep talking and talking and when she asked for help or opinion... she never listens. it's very tiring to have a caller like that and very stressful also. no matter how much i want to be there for her and be a friend for a while... she's making it darn difficult for me to do so. i also didn't want to be rude, but she is disrupting my work often so one time i asked her to just leave me a message because she knew how busy i can be.

yes, some people need a hobby or get a life outside of the phone. hehe

i could spend hours talking to my family on the phone or even close friends and boyfriend. coz i definitely enjoy it. she was the exception, i don't like negativity to ruin my day.

Good thing I don't have any friends that are like that. If I had someone like that, then I would try my best to lie to them about having something else to do. Then politely get off the phone with them. Its only a little white lie. lol. I just hope they don't find out about it.

I think a lot of us have someone like this. Im one who has to want to talk on the phone or else Ill just get bored or tired. My one friend calls the most annoying and inappropriate times for me. She will talk my ear off for hours and sometimes I think she knows Im not lsitening and will add things into the convo. I always have to make up something up so I can get off the phone. She usually calls when I just get up or wake me up since I work nights. When I dont answer shes gets all pissed off. I just ignore her most of the time if I really dont want to talk to her (thank god for call display).
