Thousands protest in Tokyo against U.S. military presence in Japan   

I don't blame them. Our founding fathers intended us to be more like Switzerland and keep our nose out of everyone's business. Unless we have a world crisis like WWII or something, I think we should keep our nose out of everywhere! If they come over here and attack us we should pound them properly and come back home--period. No hanging around and interfering. If they want a gov't like ours, let them do it as we did. We should stay out of other countries.

Would we AMerican's tolerate another country having it's military and a base in OUR country? Heck no. We would be in the streets screaming bloody heck. So I can understand why other countries do not want a foreign military base in theirs.
I say if Japan wants us out...then we leave.
As for the war in Iraq...well Blair and Bush lied. They told us he had weapons of mass distruction....there were not any. We never should have gone into Iraq. Neither should have England. I don't blame them for being mad. A lot of lives have been lost and a lot of money wasted on a war that should have NEVER happened. I am mad about it too.

The world is doing the best it can with Haiti....but they can only do so much. It is a terribly sad situation.

It does seem that there is a lot going on in the world right now.

Good for the Japaneses as they have a bad history against US during the WWII. We are now of the modern age and countries especially Japan would never do such things in the the past. They already knew the consequences about it. American citizens too should convince their government not to let their children to venture to other countries just for the sake of keeping the whole world safe to live in.

Oh that is so terrible. My husband's brother is over there and his wife is Japanese and that is her home. It would be terrible if she had to leave her family again because her husband could no longer work in Japan. It's a crazy world we live in.

I agree to the thousand people who protest in Tokyo against U.S. military presence in Japan because it will provoke a War. Remember the Pearl Harbor became the site of a naval base after the United States annexed Hawaii in 1990. On Dec.7, 1941, Japanese plane gather a surprise attack on the U.S. naval base & other military installation and the United States entered World War II in the following day. It means if you have a military presence in your country, it will provoke a war in other country like what happen to Iran(they put military presence then U.S make war against Iraq.What is the result of war,there's no Peace.

I dont know what's up to US why they put military to Japan, I haven't been updated on what;s going on with the world right now. Anyway, here also in my country, people also protest in streets and even in front of US embassy when they found out that the US troops will come to do some practice with the Filipino soldiers. But there protest are useless and our government just ignore them. That's why I think that protest against them is very useless because the government itself wants the US to be there.

Finally there's something we can really agree on - there sure IS a lot of unrest in the world! Is the protesting in Japan something new? I mean, we've been there for over 50 years so it would seem strange if suddenly they decided they didn't like it. People in the U.K have been protesting about Iraq since the beginning and the English knew from the beginning it had nothing to do with 9/11! Things have been terrible in Iran for years but MAYBE they will change since it doesn't seem like the protesters are giving up this time.

Haiti is a story unto itself. The destruction has been so horrific to a country that had little infrastructure to begin with. I think everyone from just about everywhere in the world - and I KNOW it's mostly us but we're their "next-door neighbor" - is doing all that they can but it will take time, LOTS of time along with money and effort!
