Cartoon vs. Anime  

There were decent cartoons in the past such as Titan A.E, and Pirates of Dark Water but most of the new cartoons now rely on stupidity which seems to be the new trend. Even The Incredible Hulk was effected. This was a monster of rage in the movies, and cartoon from the 90th, but in the new kids cartoon, The Super Hero Squad Show, he was transformed into an idiot joke of himself. I prefer Anime more for the better action and stories, and not every Anime has perversion in them such as Ronin Warriors but this is an older one. Transformers is also Anime but Transformers Animated, was one version made by an American company. From the scenes I've seen of it, it wasn't as good in my opinion. They behaved too much like humans drinking oil as a beverage, and one appeared as if he was overweight.

I'm going for Anime on this because I never have liked American cartoons, anime always does it for me because of the way the characters are designed and the whole depth to it using music to invoke deep emotions and various other things it's much much better than american cartoons.

I really like anime due to the unique plot of each story. Japanese are really know for their eccentric ideas and always taking it to the next step which i like on the story plots. I also like cartoons but lately i fail to find good stories nowadays

If I were to compare today's American cartoons with Japanese anime, I'm going to have to say that anime is way better. I'm not a fan of today's cartoons. It's not the animation or anything like that, I just find it lacking. This is probably because I'm usually comparing it with the cartoon shows that I watched as a kid which I thought was a lot better. Anime has a more wide range of genre to choose from. There's actually a story unlike American cartoons which is more episodic.

They both have their draws and I really don't know if I could call one better then the other based solely on content, I mean technically anime would have to be better as there is more of it made per year then there is cartoons for American television, so based on the simple law of 90% of everything is complete crap and the other 10% is good to great, anime wins hands down.

As for your other points, I don't find there being an issue of the American cartoons gaining anime traits. When it's just the art style, well that does seem a bit silly, I agree. But let us not forget that a lot of the shows kids watched in the 80s was out of Japan and WAS anime, Voltron and Speed Racer for example, while Thundercats and Silver Hawks while both created by American companies were designed and animated by Japanese and had an anime look and feel that was current with the time. Plus borrowing from anime made one of the best cartoons in the last decade, Avatar: the Last Airbender. There is much to be learned and adapted from anime, like telling a story, and having definitive endings.

Also finally, anime is not by definition filled with mature language and violence. There is anime for all age groups in Japan. There are kids shows, shows for teens, and shows for adults. It is not just the stuff we see on Adult Swim or Hentai. There is also things that are bereft of violence all together or are no more violent then an episode of Looney Toons, and many MANY series exist that are perfect for kids.

I prefer anime.. American cartoons are poorly drawn and most of them are just plain lame comedy stuff for 2 year olds...

i would say that they both have their ups and downs not every anime show is cool neither are the u.s ones yes anime does follows more of a story but the story can be repeated several times with different shows.
besides the u.s makes more comedy cartoons becuase its cheaper
there are quite a few that are funny.
