waking up in the middle of the night |
| |
| i am faced with a strange situation. for the past so many nights, i seem to wake up around 2.am daily for no reason at all. there isn't any sound or any other disturbance due to which i am awake. I simply find that my eyes open automatically around that time and i am totally helpless. the worst part is that i am not able to get back to sleep for an hour or so afterwards. i just keep tossing and turning till sleep takes over. this is proving to be a great strain and i am not able to wake up fresh. i am so very upset due to this problem. what do i do to get back to my uninterrupted sleep days??? | | | | | |

| | I have been doing this too, only about 3 or 3:30! I started taking some valarien root to help me sleep. It seems like it helps, even if I wake up for a second I get right back to sleep.. maybe it's an old age thing! | | | | | | |

| | Yea i have the same problem i wake up at 3:30 or 4. it may be due to a bad dream at times but it sometimes i wake up for no reason. may be its because we have a disturbed mind through the day so our mind is strained at nights. people said our mind sleeps when we sleep but i heard that's not true it seems our mind is even more awake at night than day time. don know how far its true. | | | | | | |

| | i think you might have a point there. yes.. these days my mind is a bit disturbed over some personal problems. maybe that is the reason why this is happening. anyway, i hope i am able to sleep through out the night atleast today. thanks for the response. | | | |

| | Do you recentlly need to go to work every day in that time? If I used to wake up several day in the same time, I will kept wake up at the same time even I didn't need to wake up so earyly anymore! If you not the situation I mentioned, are there any chance you have too much pressure right now? I have some experience like you, but I just close my eyes and told myself sleep sleep and sleep, and you can image the picture sometimes you were very deeply want sleep, it really help me a lot! | | | | | | |

| | Are you eating regurally and getting enough exercese like you should be getting? If something in your body has changed it could be the reason you're not sleeping at night. I know my boyfriend for example will come home from work and get streight into the beer. Doesn't really matter how much he has (though he manages to squeeze in at least two cans) he's up in the middle of the night craving sugar. On some nights its worse and others its not. Only time he sleeps through the night is if he doesn't drink (which is only once a week) and eats something before he goes to bed. Perhaps if you drink alcoholic beverages cut down on them. Eat something small about an hour before you go to bed, and you should be fine. It may or may not help. Also try to find ways during the day to relax and destress yourself. And, no the above mentioned alcohol isn't the way to go about it. It only fries your brain literally. | | | | | | |

| | i agree with you. alcohol only damages the system and provides an illusion of well being. people should realize this and stay away from it, which is indeed a hard choice for many of them. i realised that my sleeplessness is due to stress and now i have started yoga and exercise in a small way. it is really helping me. thanks for sharing your views. have a great day. | | | |

| | I do not know what to say that could help you stay asleep.Have you tried going to bed earlier or later at night to see if you still wake up at the same time? If you are still waking up at the same time no matter when you go to bed then there must be something that interupts your sleep like a noise that wakes you ,yet when you wake up the noise has stopped. | | | | | | |

| | no... it was not any noise which woke me up. it is just some internal mechanism gone wrong, i guess. i have started exercising now and feel much better, although it has been just two days. i really hope i am able to get over this problem | | | |

| | First of all, the fact that you are letting it upset you is worsening the problem - it's probably why it's hard to fall back asleep. Second, as anything changed in your life recently? Third, are you under any kind of stress that is more than normal? Have you changed any of your habits? Do you think you could be going through a physiological change? Ultimately, letting it upset you is a huge contributing factor to not waking up refreshed. If you have the train of thought that you "need to get X hours a sleep a night" then your minds needs will overtake your bodies needs. Our bodies go through changes all of the time for a reason and our biggest obstacles to just accepting this seem to be that we think we should have control over the internal workings of our bodies. | | | | | | |

| | i think you are right. just before hitting the bed, i am so stressed out thinking that my sleep is going to be interrupted. after the discussion in mylot, i have taken the advise to exercise and i find that now i am feeling much better. even though i woke up last night at the same time, i immediatly went back to sleep. so maybe exercise is the key... | | | |

| | ...Hi pree, Sometimes something that you have been worrying about will be in your sub-concious and will interrupt your sleep. Try to find some Chamomile tea, it is a herbal blend, drink a cup or so before you retire, you should sleep through the night without waking. Before that, you might want to think about what may be worrying you and try to come to grips with it. A hot soaking bath does wonders for your eyeballs, just don't fall asleep in the tub. Lastly you should not be drinking coffee before you go to bed, but I am sure you know that "o). Take care. | | | | | | |
