Iran is set to give a mighty punch to the west in just a few days are you ready?  email this discussion to a friend?

myLot reputation of 22/100. kennyrose (5047) 3 years ago

Where may you and your loved ones be if this insane ratical Muslim leader carries through with his Islamic plan in just a few day's for the west?
I expect one day not to far in the future some Americans will be blown to hell and back at a packed mall some where in the U.S.
So much for uniting the world after Obama got into office what a dam joke,we by far are less safe in our country this past year or so then any time the 7 years before under the Bush administration,I think only a fool would argue otherwise.
Your last day on earth will it find you degrading Sarah Palin because she wrote three words on the palm of her hand?

(Iran is set to deliver a "punch" that will stun world powers on Feb 11,2010)

John Bolton: Even Severe Sanctions Wont Dissuade Iran From Pursuing Nuclear Weapons

Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Monday that Iran is set to deliver a "punch" that will stun world powers during this week's 31st anniversary of the Islamic revolution.

"The Iranian nation, with its unity and God's grace, will punch the arrogance (Western powers) on the 22nd of Bahman (February 11) in a way that will leave them stunned," Khamenei, who is also Iran's commander-in-chief, told a gathering of air force personnel.

The country's top cleric was marking the occasion when Iran's air force gave its support to revolutionary leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, a key event which led to the toppling of the US-backed shah on February 11, 1979.

His comments came as Iran said it would begin to produce higher enriched uranium from Tuesday, in defiance of Western powers trying to ensure the country's nuclear drive is peaceful.

of course! the united states is weak! obama and the other fool in london, england? gimme me a break; michael savage says it best. the west plays checkers, while iran, china etc. play chess. until real men take over western governments, well- hell I would be flexing my muscle too if I was iran or russia, china. if one is weak one invites death. now will iran do something thursday? I think it maybe a nuclear test of somekind; wonder if it happens if obama will go running to iran not negotiate, but do what he does best to foreign leaders: bow at their feet.

I think your words are : 'of course! the united states is 'ARROGANT'' - why does it bother you so much that Iran, a nation very incapable of striking Israel even if it had a nuclear bomb - limited WMD compared to the formiddable force the alliance would have and certainly no major threat other than rhetoric.

Its like being at school where a classmate is trying to wind you up, and your getting wound up because that person is to clever or smart to be bullied. For crying out loud, why do many Americans just like showing their 'muscle' just to squash an ant! Moreover, why are they determined to squash the ant!

Learn from Iraq, learn from Vietnam, learn from the British Empire - these are imperialistic attitudes which fade with time.

I once read an article about a young male who died after about six weeks locked in a shed by a couple in an incident of road rage. The couple didn't like the guy, so took over his life and eventually finished it. Of you would not think this right, so why then would you advocate meddling in other nations to be subservient to you?

are you blind or something else! READ MY POST I WROTE- THE UNITED STATES IS WEAK, WEAK,WEAK, WHERE THE HELL DID I SAY "ARROGANT"- do you need glasses to read the text? the us isn't "bullying"; obama's bootlicking and cowaredly ways is why iran, russia , china are on the march. if the us wasn't acting like a scared little girl around the world kowtowing to dictators then the united states wouldn't be seen as as such a pushover because of the obama administration. DON'T MESS WITH ME MAKRO74 I THREATEND TO KILL SOMEONE ON YOUTUBE

Hey Lazerm - CHILL - what did I say that as so enraged you? I mean, no offence, but if you note the English, where I placed arrogant instead of weak, I placed quotations, does not your grammar skill pick this out? But judging by your response however, you seem to have a peplex maturity crisis entangled with a profound desire for violence judging by your comments and your profile.

Just for the record, all I said was, rightly or wrongly, and in my opinion, to be diplomatic in a complex world we have to exhaust all avenues of PEACE. This does not make any nation weaker. Rather, a person with power has a duty to be responsible for the weak. And the weak are the third world nations. Help is for their interests and their interests only. There must not be a imperialistic agenda involved.

Your response however, is typically arrogant, where on earth would resort to threats and violence from a mere few opinionated words on a website. And this is my point exactly. Americans brandishing power in a way that all others are beneath them, if I can squash them I will! Not very responsible or peaceful.

Anyway, for the record, as always I am not here to offend anybody - Peace.

What's Khomeini going to do...hit the western allies with a giant purse? He wasn't just referring to the U.S., Rose. He's whining about Russia, France and every other member country of the International Atomic Energy Agency who objects to Iran's plans to produce higher-grade uranium enrichment on it's own soil in contradiction of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty they recently signed. This fist pounding nothing statement is in response to the promise of additional sanctions against Iran by the IAEA membership. But, tell us Rose, what it is you expect Iran is capable of doing in the near future? Do you honestly believe that their Air Force is capable of getting anywhere close to the boarders of any of the western IAEA member countries without being blown out of the sky? Have you forgotten about the defense capabilities of not only the U.S. but other countries as well...including Israel's nuclaer weapons that stand ready? Yeah, I'm real skert.

he is having a tantrum in the hope that more gullible people in western countries will get scared. i agree that there is little reason to be - he can stamp his feet to his hearts content but i think it is very unlikely iran will try to go through with something serious, and has little chance of success if it does.

myLot reputation of 100/100. astonysh (4492)  3 years ago

Spalladino - excellently made point, particularly your line: "what it is you expect Iran is capable of doing in the near future".

In all probability far far less than Khamanei's propaganda would want the gullible both home and abroad to believe.

Well, I have never been to the US -I don't have an interest in the country, sorry-, and I live in the East, so it wouldn't affect me much, but anyway I'm against wars, and against all that insane thing about leaders always wanting to blow other's heads. Sometimes you can compare it with 3 year old kids trying to get their older brother or sister's toy thumbdown

So I guess I should be really afraid? Of what, exactly? Remember Iraq and weapons of mass destruction? We were told to be really afraid then, too.
Iran, however, is a different kettle of fish. It is a large country with a lot of resources. The leadership is somewhat irrational, and therefore unpredictable. The U.S. has for many years tried to induce regime change in many countries by imposing sanctions. We refuse to do business with that country (Reagan excepted--he sold weapons to the Iranians) and it never works. Sanctions were imposed on Cuba shortly shortly after Castro took control. They have been in place for almost 50 years, with no sign of regime change yet.
Sanctions like trade embargoes never work. Never. We are more likely to induce a regime change by doing business with the people of a country than by refusing to do so. We could increase the dissatisfaction of the Iranian people with their government by selling them Levis and television sets, except we don't make any of those anymore.
John Bolton ranks right up towards the top of the list of unreliable sources about what is happening in the world and the best way to deal with it. He was one of the guys pounding the drum about Iraq's WMD.
When you look at the assessments of international situations by those who are called "neocons", which includes Bolton, and then look at subsequent events, there is a truly striking pattern: these guys have never been right about anything.

I don't think they will be blowing anything up, they're probably done with that. The next thing will probably be a biological weapon of some sort--they will infect some people with an awful disease and fly them here to spread it.

Our problem is that we react, we don't prevent. We search old ladies and babies at the airports and let the target groups sail by because it would be politically incorrect to single out the demographic group that the terrorists belong to. We wait till they do something then we take steps to prevent that particular act. We leave our borders wide open and essentially unprotected while we concentrate on air traffic. We don't inspect incoming sea cargo, either.

On your other point, I find it ironic that Mrs. Palin's crib notes are being ridiculed while we have a president that can't speak well without a teleprompter, even taking it with him to address a class of children. And he can't pronounce "corpsman", either. We all have our limitations, of course, but to criticize the speck in someone's eye before they attend to the log in their own is ridiculous.

Spalladino, that's a major source of irritation to me!! That inarticulate idiot could not say nuclear and instead said "nu-klee-er" and have you noticed that nearly everyone is saying it that way now, even reporters that are supposed to know better?! I hate it when people can't speak their native language properly--it shows that they are lazy and careless.

dragon54u You said "I find it ironic that Mrs. Palin's crib notes are being ridiculed while we have a president that can't speak well without a teleprompter, even taking it with him to address a class of children." I agree with you 100%. If they can't find anything worse than that to complain about then Palin must be doing pretty well. I have never really care too much for Palin but I thought the note being written on her hand to be rather endearing. Brought me some happy memories when I used to do the same thing in school/college.

Hmm....

I think Americans are far to scared of losing there imperialism! I mean, as some respondents have pointed out, even if Iran was to do something silly, the West has so many defence mechanisms that Iranian attacks really would not get very far. Moreover, Iran, as with Iraq does not really have any of the REAL high tech wmd that all the Western nations have. So with just rhetoric, and a clever alliance building with Eastern bloc, I think the US is running scared of losing its power grip on the world.

No country wants to be dictated to, but can work with a memorandum of understanding. All of the Arab nations, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi, Lebanon and now Iraq and Afghanistan, with Syria weakened, they cannot lift a finger in defiance of the US. Iran up until 1979 was a 'friend', but decided its alliance with the US was going to be on its own terms, 'take or leave it' attitude. It required no help from the US, and the Iranian nation has become prosperous, similar to Iraq in the 1980's.
But the control of the US is not there, and the US does not like it. But when you look deeply into Iran itself, its government and its mindset from all the speeches and its actions, you really do not get the impression that these people are mad. Rather, there is a very strong passion of methodology for the Iranian nation and reaching out to its neighbors and strategic partners. Moreover, all of its programmes have been largely peaceful.
But the Americans cannot see it this way simply because it opposes American and Israeli policy. It does agree with much what America has done and it does not fear by saying them openly. Yet the US assume this as a pre-requisite for nuclear ambitions to fire at the West - creating a mad state image and linking it with terrorist.

Let me also remind you, the US has 3000+ nukes and Israel has 200+. Double standards?? Moreover, the US is the only country which has used the nuke TWICE! Yet if Iran was to acquire any sort of weapon, it could not attack Israel if it wanted to. Maybe in 30 years it may have some capabilty.

In my mind, what is coming out from many US hawks and many posters, is an imperialistic and arrogant mindset of those who wish to control or meddle with other nations affairs. But if they only realised that the way to 'help' other nations with their power and influence, is to deal with each nation fairly and respond according to their needs and not YOUR needs. This would make the world a far safer and peaceful place. And also, as with all imperialistic powers, they decline, so it would be US interest to calm it a little.

Great Response! Even though you ridicule our tendencies talk about our fear to lose control, I am not offended at all by what you've said here. I love educated well thought out responses with points, facts and opinions. Unfortunately my response below yours of course was written whilst angered by the addition of Sarah Palin into this question. So my response is not up to par with your fantastic and well thought out post. You know us! Quick to act, and then we think.

Again Great Response! I wish more Mylotters had your skill and patience to write such detailed and thought out posts.

Thank you, Ash, for your words. If I have offended anyone, I will be the first to apologise, however, sometimes the truth of the matter really feels bitter and rather than raising mad revenge responses, we need to analyse what is being said and learn from it.

And it is not my intention to offend any Americans or others out there, but simply for the plight of all those killed and harmed in this destructive imperialistic foreign policy. Listening and patience is a virtue apparent in those who value all humans with respect and dignity, and to turn the other cheek is far more commendable ie an act of mercy.

Arrogant attitudes only lead to downfall. If there are hardline people out there who in their twisted mindset will mame and kill innocents, then please, lets marginilise them as a handful of thugs. The rest of us should be talking and listening and respecting the trust and nature of opposition. Never treat a people as beneath the other. When this is done, then we can hope to achieve some kind of level playing field in the world free from war.

To make a fuss about Palin writing on her hand is really scraping the bottom of the barrel. It that is all the Dumcrats can complain about then they really are dumb. We have many much more important things to worry about.
I have never really cared too much for Palin but I found the note written on her hand to be rather endearing. Nothing to be compared to Obama's teleprompter which tells him every damn word to say!!

myLot reputation of 22/100. kennyrose (5047)  3 years ago

In my opinion I do not think Iran has to do any thing at least from Iran, they are here and they are in London, they are among us.
If there is an attack on our soil I expect it to be at a crowed shopping mall or eatery in some big city like New York City,Washington D.C. or some place in New Jersey, could be any busy big bustling U.S.city.
Far as what some idiots are calling Palin's crib notes, they only fear her popularity and her power as they do the tea party, even democrat pundits are saying people making a big deal about this are acting "STUPID"they can not even defend it on national t.v.except on MSNBC and left wing in the crapper cable news.
Back to Iran's new threat don't know what direction it is coming or even if it is this time, but it is coming to one of our busy shopping centers some where in the U.S.A.
The terrotist know we have a very weak leader at this time and this will prove to cause innocent life's to be taken at their hands, after all Obama and Holder will set them up in the finest we have while they wait trial all paid for my the tax payers...What a "JOKE" they are to all the world leaders.
Thanks everyone for your opinions in regard to Iran's new threat against the west, have to wait like ducks to see where and if they strike again on U.S.soil,in my opinion it is not IF but WHEN!!!

Are you suggesting, Rose, that Iran is part of Al Qaeda...or that they're a terrorist country? Iran has a long standing hatred for Israel but, even with regards to that situation, they have not acted like terrorists. Just where do you get this belief that Iran will send terrorists to other countries...or is that just wishful thinking on your part?

Every president in recent years has had a teleprompter during their large speeches. The one's before that had note cards, Are you going to talk S&%T on them? Could you remember and recite a 2-3 hour State of The Union Speech with-out missing a key point that you wanted to make? You don't have to answer that, I know you can't, because no one can.
I don't care that Palin wrote things on her hand, but the fact that she couldn't REMEMBER 3 things to talk about says way more about her than it does about the "Dumcrats" that think she's inadequate to even BE on television let alone in office. That last one was a thought of my own.

I am going to go off on a completely different path here. I do not believe their "punch that stuns the world" will have anything to do with war, weapons, nuclear war heads or anything of the sort. My speculation is it will be the announcement of something to do with their space program. I am going to venture they will announce something along the lines of a program for an orbiter vehical of sorts, manned space flight, perhaps even the statrt of their own moon exploration program. Just my guess.

I don't want to be rude to you but I am trying to figure out when some of these leaders have ever STOPPED threatening democratic nations. I am sorry you feel less safe than you used to feel, but personally I don't. I was alarmed when I learned that the last administration received the memo "bin Laden determined to strike within the U.S." and didn't move to change any security precautions. However, I have no idea of how many such memoes come into the oval office every day for review and what happens to them. I tend to blame terrorists for terrorism, not the many presidential administrations who have the awesome burden of dealing with them. I'm pretty sure we'd all be mortified if we had a complete record of all these threats, because such threats have been going on for as long as I can remember.

So I am not sure how to answer your question -- are you suggesting the U.S. should go ahead and bomb any country that issues some vague verbal threat or what? I mean in what way are you saying we should be ready? I suppose my answer would be on my last day on earth I'll be myLotting, enjoying my family and friends and working like I always do.
