Pet Grooming your Dog for Looks or Health  |

|  To all the dog owners at mylot; I would like to know do you groom your dog yourself or take him/her to professional pet grooming services? I hear diseases can be caught ahead of time when taking your pet dog to a professional pet grooming service, than just doing it yourself. Even though it is cheaper to groom your pet at home, do you do it so your pet's looks are to your satisfaction? How involved is pet grooming if you do it yourself at home? I have a friend who grooms her dogs at Pet Smart, and I had fun going with her to take part in the process, too. I got a little wet, but it was worth it. Afterwards she bought her beautiful chocolate labs some treats because they behaved (for the most part). It makes me want a dog of my own!

| |  My dogs all have short hair, so we don't have to worry too much about grooming. We give them all a bath regularly, and we brush them. We also trip their claws ourselves. We have some really good trimmers, and we can usually do it with no problems, because they have all gotten used to it for the most part...

| |  I have two miniature poodles called Secret and Magic. They have fur that grows constantly and it is easy for it to get matted. I had a go at cutting for dogs fur. I found the electric trimmer made them nervous. If I used scissors I didn't do a professional looking cut. I took my dogs to a grooming parlor. My dogs got nervous on the journey over to it. Therefore I have a mobile dog groomer visit my house. She grooms my poodles and does a very professional job. It is cheaper and less stressful than going to the grooming parlor at the pet shop. My dogs had their coats cut yesterday and they look really gorgeous now.

| |  Mine is a chihuahua so really doesn't need hair cuts. I do her nails so I don't have to pay a huge fee for nails. I wash her also. Chocolate labs are so adorable!
