Dear friends, I use mostly use my passport ID in most of occasions. Even if I show my ration card, election card, driving license, pan card, office id card, telephone bill, water bill, house tax receipt or any other. The most accepted one is my passport card as most of occasions no further questions were inquired on me whenever I had showed it as my identification proof. Moreover only thing they question is its validity date.I would. So it makes me also be careful not to lose my passport.

I have used my passport at times. I'd rather no because there are idiots who won't accept it for ID. They want a drivers license and only a drivers license. They are to stupid to realize that a passport is a better form of ID than a drivers license which can be bought for $50 in any barrio.

I keep my passport in my wallet, because I don't have a drivers licence. I am very careful not to lose my wallet. I would rather lose my keys than lose my wallet. LOL My passport is going to expire in a month or two, so I need to order a renewal this week.

I hope that wallet would be really better one. The lost of passport is mostly a discomfort for many, I hope they should have issued two passports one to be kept as spare.

Very true Shamrock, indeed passport is a solid proof of identification and is a legal document to be presented without any question, not unless of it's validity date. If opening a new bank account, one of the solid identification to present is your passport, not only that most government agencies and private ones still prefer passport as one of the valid IDs to be presented. If I will win today's raffle ticket in a mall, I would surely present my passport as my identification also. It is really important and we should not misplace our passport. Happy mylotting.

Hi Shamrack, I seldom present my passport as my identification proof. it's my company ID and my professional licensure ID that is used to present as identify proof for claiming mails, packages, encashing checks, and other transactions that required me to show IDs. I already lost my passport when i was in the US that's why i am extra careful in using it. so i keep it and use my other IDs.

having two passports is great that it will entail greater responsibility not only for ourselves but the government as well. this can be abused and might create some other problems. for the meantime, let's be more careful not to lose it.

When I came out of my collage days and struggling to start my career, it was very hard to produce a Identity proof as I did not had a single one. No Driving license, No Passport, No Govt ration card or Pan Card or election ID or any legal document proving my identity. I had tough time to open a bank account without an identity proof. Now I have all of these and there is less chance when somebody asks me to produce me any of these. I always carry Driving license with me as an identity proof however I prefer to produce my Passport or PAN Card in all the official requirements. I believe there should be just one proof serving all the purpose, whether its nationality, driving, income tax or anything else. It is not easy to maintain number of proofs. Hope government will do something on this :)
