My one-year old chihuahua doesn't bark..is that normal?  

Some dogs just do not bark. We had a little mixed breed dog when I was growing up that would not bark at all no matter what. We had her checked by the vet, thinking that she may no hear so therefore she did not know when to bark, this was not the case. Her hearing was fine and the vet told us that some dogs just don't bark. He said that it may have something to do with what equates to our vocal chords or voice box as to why she did not bark but that it did not hurt her. So if you have a chihuahua that does not bark then maybe you should enjoy that since most of them are very yappy. LOL

Actually, yes that is quite normal! There are lots of dogs that may never bark or hardly ever bark! Sometimes it is nice if they do not bark because it can get annoying! It does not hurt them not to batk! Glad she is a sweat dogs, I have cats but I like a nice dog also! Happy MyLoting! Your dog sounds great!
