Is It Time To Leave?  |

|  Ive worked at the same company for 6 years (a local coffee shop). Ive never had much problems until recently. The managers are so disorganized and all over place its not even funny. Ive worked nights for over 4 years now and seen many people walk in and out the doors. Lately, money has been going missing from the tills and theyve been accussing two of us for it. They fired the one lady and the missing money incidents have stopped. Yet, they still point the finger at me. Honestly, I would never dream of stealing money and just couldnt live with myself. They watch the videos every night and I swear find things to write us up on. Now their telling us we can go to the bathroom betweek a certain time (an hour span) and no breaks. The behaviour and language that are passed between managers and coworkers I believe is harrassment. A new manager started the schedule and I went from 6 shifts to 3 shifts. Clearly I was upset since I live at college which is 2 hours away and she booked me in for an 8 hour shift which wouldnt even cover my gas money. A load of other employees are having the same problem day in and day out. Im just getting extremely frustrated.
Should I just give up and leave?
Is there really another job that will treat you with respect?
What are your opinions on this situation?
What would you do?

| |  Ricki...they should be awarding you...not denigrading and abusing you, and I truly know how you feel, when you are being scrutinized for something you are NOT doing! You lose your enthusiasm (and it sounds to me like you were/are decidated)...it affects your work attitude as there is a general malaise of uneasiness.
I think you should secure..another job, FIRST, as they are out there, jobs that is, where you think the atmosphere would be MUCH more amicable...and then, I would (if possible give them notice concurrent with your pay period.) AND as much, as you would like to "voice" your concerns...it is always wise NOT to burn your bridges behind you. Yes, there is a major fear of the unknown...but you are young, and there is a big, big beautiful world waiting for you out there.
If at all possible, don't join forces with the other employees and arm an assault against the "powers that be" as it may be misguided. Take care of you...truly, no-one else will...and I wish you all the best of luck! Spending many hours is a place of un-ease can/will also affect your mental, and eventually your physical health...as it is a stress-loaded environment. Once again, take care...and of you! Cheers!

I actually currently have another job (I work 2). Im currently looking for a new job but trying to push it out until the end of April when I graduate from college. Its just frustrating and stressful going to work just to be brought down and harrassed my whole 3 shifts. | | | |

| |  If I were you, I'd be looking for another job. I don't know where you are, but they're not easy to find around here, so be sure you have another one before quitting. Don't put up with that stuff because yes, there are other jobs and people who will treat you with respect.

| | I live in Canada. In some ways it is hard to find a job but at the moment Ill take anything. Plus, I ahve another job (I currently work 2 jobs). Im trying to get a nother one come April its delivering papers but its better then nothing. Its hard being a freshly graduated college student but I honestly dont care the work or whether its minimum wage jsut as long as they treat me with respect. | | | |

| |  I would say they are trying to get rid of their staff one way or another and probably hire a cheaper one. That's what one job of mine did when they didn't like you they cut your hours down to nil to kinda force you to quit KWIM? And I don't think that's very legal to deny you a break or when you can use the potty.

| | Thats what a lot of people I asked have said. On nights we do make more (0.50 cents an hour more). They have been cutting our nightly premium and making the stupid excuses on why. Im not getting fed up and its jsut causing too much stress on me. Im looking for a job and trying to push this job until I graduate from school in April.
