A talented 10 year old is asked by his church to dipict Jesus Christ as Jesus stumbled and was being beaten on the way to calvary. The 10 year old choses his 7 year old sibling to symbolize Jesus. The final portrait is of the 7 year old covered in red coloring and being beaten by an actor in police uniform with a crowd watching! The church says no way, we cannot display this presentation because it will cause children to be afraid of the police. The 10 year says his portrait is his modern version of the crucifixion and suffering of Jesus! Very talented 10 year old, I would say. I went to an christian elementary school and remember participating in dramas at about 6 years of age on the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
I am immediately reminded here of Mel Gibson and his "Passion of the Christ" which Jews alleged was anti-semitic when Gibson merely recounted Biblical record. What sayest thou about the portrait by the 10 year old?

Out of the mouth of babes. Funny that a ten year old could see truth in present times but adults cant see past the politics of present day. I am not saying every cop is bad but its true that they are the authority figures of today's time and many have the same exact attitudes as those roman soldiers did in those days.

Exactly what I, too, saw! 'Twas the clerics and the authority of the time that condemned and crucified Jesus (though on the way to calvary HE went for me and you)! You know, I believe the portrait by the young artist and Gibson's "Passion of the Christ" have brought about lots of revelation about some religious folks: These people do not read and/or understand their Bible. I just do not understand how anyone belonging to any of the three Abrahamic religions can claim that the portrait by the young artist or Gibson's movie is inappropriate and/or inciting of violence.

By the way, I heard the young artist in an interview; and though the son of an artist and sounded shy, he satisfied my curiosity as to his actual involvement in the portrait with his answers. I think that the child artist could make the connection between today and Jesus' era. It is obvious that the child is very talented; else, his church would not have commissioned him with the task. Wish the young artist the best!!!

So glad you pointed out the fact that the Bible is filled with story of violence. And how church and religious folks can justify the mere recount or portrayal of Biblical facts as violent or inciting of violence or anti-semitic is beyond my comprehension. I guess these people just do not read their Bible or Holy texts for understanding and probably do not teach the Bible to their children.

Yes it sounds like a true representation however I would be concerned about letting a ten year old participate in propaganda whether positive or negative. It could become a first amendment issue or some other kind of issue.
The Passion of the christ was a great despiction, straight out of the bible. Howe ver I noticd that women hated the seen and couldnot watch the scene were Jesus was woped and beaten , men say it was hoistory and the truth.

Sourceseeker, the church, obviously aware of the young boy's talent, asked the young artist to give them his dipiction of Jesus stumbling on the way to clavary. Propaganda or not, that it indeed a factual symbolism. Now, I am of course concerned that a child that young could make such a factual connection between today's activities and Jesus's era. Remember that Jesus was condemned and crucified by people in high places during His time.
