Oh..I think u should use some special tools to format ur HDD first. The problem 'd be with the newer HDD which has a modern type which is not supported by XP. Its better u format HDD to NTFS old format and get support of XP. In my opinion u should change to win 7 rather than Xp, as newer laps are not competable with XP. U can run XP in ur lap, but it 'd be slow are telling many error reports as hardwares are built for vista or win 7.

Your machine has a sata hd which will not be recognised without the driver, you can download online. Will probably run faster on XP as Vista is rubbish

The one flaw that was programed into vista was that its not possible to downgrade easily. At least not with the usual method. The only way I could think to do it, would be to run the disc (xp) in dos mode. Of course you would have to know some dos strings to get your computer to format the drive in dos mode. Which is tricky to do. You have to catch this before the windows splash screen appears. basically during start-up when the logo of your computer appears. I believe hitting either one of the fuction keys will kick it into dos mode.

1) It's easy if your BIOS contains an option to run your SATA HDD in IDE mode (do it before running the XP CD).
2) If this option is not present, try to install with a XP CD containing SP2 : it may recognize your SATA HDD.
3) you need an external floppy drive (not easy to find today :( ) with the SATA drivers in a floppy disk. Hit F6 at the beginning of the XP install, to install SATA drivers first.
