for your topic to be in the hot list you just need to post some interesting topics and put some interesting title././././.....
though we cannot get hot topics every day but we can give a try... some times it depends on luck...

I think it depends on your friends activity. Do they regularly check your profile to see your discussions? I don't do this so frequently neither my friends. If you have friends that follow your activity, don't ignore them not to loose them :)

For me, it is not the number of your friends that determine your discussion responses. It is more to your discussion itself. If your discussion is attractive and in a general matter where everybody can participate, I believe your discussion will receive a huge number of responses. But, if your discussion in not attractive, online discussion and/or restrict by geographical and/or cultural stuff then I am sure it would receive very little responses (if any).

But to have more friends would have some advantage too. Your discussion is more exposed because your friends will receive a notification (assume they on a notification on you) when you started a new discussions. So, even though they are not online when you post your discussion, they get notice about it. The possibility for them to respond to it is much higher.

I don't think like you, it depends on the discussions, no one and no friends will jump on all our discussions if they are nonsense and non interestant...

if they answer all the discussions in their emails you might do.
I try to do that but sometimes their discussions aren't something I have any way of commenting on and then i cant.

Not really. Most people here don't really care about their friend's list... because although this is somewhat a social networking site, this site's main purpose is to discuss so whenever a user logs in --- what he/she checks out first are the interesting discussions. So to get more responses, we should post interesting discussions. The quantity of friends in the friend's list don't really matter much. =)

No, as it doesn't matter at all. If you want to get responses,then you just try to post the best discussion that you can, as it has to be interesting enough for users to want to respond. I don't start all that many discussions myself, as I get some responses, but sometimes not as many as I would like, andother times more than I thought I would. It just all depends on the topic that is being presented and the content of the discussion. I will reaspoind to the discussions that interest me, whether they are on my friends list or not. I have had users that are not on my frineds list respond, so it really doesn't matter. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

vijiboopathy hi it really does help, I do not know how essential it is but do not y ou want a lot of friends, it does help and I always go to my friends discussions first then to other tabs to find discussions I want to respond too. I would not turn down friends if I were you as they can be very helpfull, also friends are nice to respond to and learn from and well enjoy their friendship too. I do not give a flip about being onthe hot list, as thats never been one of my intentions. I just want to have fun and earn some money on mylot..

To me, it's not the number of friends you have, but how interesting your discussion topic is. I go through the topics and put my two cents in on the topics that interest me. I've found, though, that I'm often commenting on discussions my friends have commented on, but that's only because we have, apparently, common interests.

I would say that you would definitely have a higher chance of people responding to your discussions if you have more friends. You also get a lot more discussions to respond too and that helps out a lot too. It's awesome with the notifications of when our friends post a discussion it helps me to be even more active on mylot.
