Old Wives Tale? |
| |
| I have heard people say that a person's blood is thicker if she lives in colder weather, and vice versa for hotter climates. Maybe I just don't get it, but what does the volume of blood in a person have to do with being in colder or hotter weather? I think this is an old wives tale, but I don't know for sure. It would be itneresting to find out though. I also wonder if the blood upon waking in the morning is thinner than at other times of the day to allow for immediate circulation upon standing. Don't worry, I'm not a vampire, just decided to explore the weirdness of my thoughts upon waking up this morning! | | | | | |

| | I have heard this too and believe there is some truth to it. My parents who live in Florida feel there blood is thinner because 65 degrees for them they find it cold. Where if they were still living in New York they would have found it comfortable. Like me, living in New Mexico 65 degrees would feel great to me. It has something to do with living in a certain climate for a long period of time your blood will get thicker in the cold weather and if you live in a warm climate your blood will get thinner. | | | | | | |

| | I would love to be scientifically enlightened on this subject, because I don't truly know the correct answer to this question. However, I do have a few theories that I would feel comfortable throwing out there. I would assume that a person that lives in a colder climate may have thicker blood because of the fact that they probably don't consume as much water as someone would that lived in a warmer climate. As far as first thing in the morning, I would think that your blood is at it's thickest because it had been a while since you'd had anything to drink. | | | | | | |
