Crazy coffee pot | | | | I had a 4 cup Mr. Coffee pot that I love, except the bottom was disintegrating, otherwise it worked well. A few weeks ago my husbands co-worker got upset because another co-worker used his 12 cup Mr. Coffee to make cocoa in, so my husband offered to buy the coffee pot off his co-worker. I went out and bought the 12 cup filters for the coffee pot and proceeded to make coffee. This is what happened on Day one: I pour in 12 cups of water using the pot and only get 10 cups; which is why my first pot of coffee was strong. And it took over an hour to make. Day two: After I did a thorough cleaning, I thought I’d make 8 cups of coffee using only 3 scoops, (I used two to scoops on my other maker to make 4 cups) and it was still too strong. And then I poured in 4 cups of water, after that didn’t work, I added 2 more cups of water and removed the filter, hoping to get the right amount. It was still strong, but drinkable at this point. This time it took 35 minutes to make. Day three: I used two scoops, (remember this is the amount I used for my four cup maker) and poured in 8 cups of water. Again too strong and ended up just adding water directly to the pot itself making it weaker than I like. And it took 35 minutes to make. Day four: It’s Sat. so I am going to make a full 12 cup pot using the measurements of only two scoops, the same I used for my 4 cup coffee maker. This time, because it was a full pot, it took over an hour again, yet it made only 6 cups. Sounds like it has some kind of problem and I will go to the website to inquire, but I wonder if anyone else had a coffee maker that did this and what they did about it. | | | | | | | | | | Keurig Coffee Maker -57% Compare prices now and save up to 57% on quality Keurig Coffee Maker! www.Keurig-Coffee-Maker.news72.com

| | hi it sounds like your coffeemaker has something plugged u p in it,. run some hot wat er with lots of vinegar through the coffee making cycle, the rinse, fill it up again with mostly vinegar and a little water, go thru the cycle, then do this with the proper amount of water several times and the coffeemaker should be unclogged., then it will work as it is 'supposed to. the vinegar is a cheap cleanser of clogs in most things and will work fine. hope this helps. | | | | | | | carmelanirel (12216)

| | I just had about the same problem with our coffeemaker. When it gets slow, I do the vinegar trick too. It does work, but sometimes you have to do it quite a few times to really get it unclogged. When I do mine, I use about 1/2 to 1 cup of clear vinegar, then fill the rest of the water resevoir up with water. Then I let it sit for about an hour before starting it and running it through. Letting it sit lets the vinegar work on the stubborn stuff to get it loose first. After that I run through clear water to get rid of the vinegar, and run enough pots of plain water through until it comes through clear. (This time it was SO clogged, and it took about 8 pots of clear water run through until it came through right again.) In my coffeemaker, I use 3 scoops (for 12 cups) and it still comes out strong. When it's done with making the coffee, the guage only reads 10 cups inside. I figure the wet coffee grounds must hold a lot of that water or something. So now, I'll dump the 12 cups worth of water inside, the 3 scoops of coffee, and then I fill the water in the coffee pot to 2 cups worth of water. When it's done now, I actually get the 12 cups worth, and it tastes better and not as strong. | | | | | | | carmelanirel (12216)

| | How are is the coffee maker loosing so much water? I don't understand this. Does it have a leak? Is it evaporating that much? Is some of the water staying in some part of the coffee maker? Strange. | | | | | | | carmelanirel (12216)

| | I have not ever heard of that happening, but it seems like the strength might be connected to the amount of time it is taking to brew. If it takes 30 minutes, that's a lot of time with the water absorbing the coffee flavor. Maybe check the types of filters. It should NEVER take that long to make a pot of coffee. | | | | | | | carmelanirel (12216)

| | I think it is either clogged or it has a leak. My husband is suppose to check it out, in the meantime, we still have our 4 cup maker and though I have to make two pots a day, it is better than waiting on the 12 cup one. | | | | | | | Single Serve Coffee Pods Espresso coffee pods, too.
