Do you have a problem finding good affordable and comfortable wearing shoes  

I am 60 and all my life have had problems finding good comfortable shoes. I have high arches and a size C width and size 9 womens. Back in 1979 a friend gave me the ONLY pair of shoes that ever felt good to me a pair of Grasshoppers, they had a thick spongy type sole and felt so good I wore them everywhere I could. I could not wear them to church as they were not dressy but soon as church was over and I was in the car off came the dress shoes and on the Grasshoppers. They lasted me 3 full years then started wearing out in the soles. I took them to a shoe repair but they did not listen or understand I wanted the same kind of sole as what the shoe had. Or else they could not put the sole like it on. Whatever they never felt comfortable again and I have to this day 30 years later not found a good comfortable pair to wear. My feet hurt all the time.

I have tried the Dr. Scholls things and shoe lifts and all sorts of things. The soles are to hard made of hard rubber or plastic with not enough give. I do walking or want to but even the Dr. Recommended shoes do not work. First they feel heavy and awkward on my feet and make my legs tired. Second the soles are always too hard and not much give. People have recommeded many brands and types none work or as comfortable and have not even found another pair of grasshoppers like that one pair. Like everyone else they changed how they made the soles.

Furthermore I do go to church or places needing a nice pair of dress shoes on occassion. I cannot wear high heels but need flats but nothing dressy is ever comfortable and my feet and feel like they are cracking and breaking in the arch from standing or walking after about 2 hours or less. Especially on concrete in stores.

I wish I could afford to find a couple pair of good everyday use comfortable inexpensive shoes to walk and hike in and a couple of pairs of dress shoes. Mostly I wear flat tennis shoes canvas really cheap which are the most comfortable but the sole is too thin and if gone from home for long they do not feel comfortable for long. Around the house they are okay, but not for walking or hiking in. Any suggestions. I am on a fixed low income. But don't have medical.
