| I pretty much grew up with television. One way or the other, it nourished my mind. Everything from children's shows and documentaries, to cartoons and talk shows. My memories have never been fleeting. The 70's gave me shows like "Emergency", "Adam 12", "Kolchak: the night stalker" etc. They all dealt with law and the medical profession. In the 80's "Miami Vice", "Hill Street Blues", "St. Elsewhere" saw a lot more serious drama. Even the 90's had some interesting viewing. "Law & Order", "NYPD Blue", and "Northern Exposure". Did you have a favorite genre? Was there a certain year you found the best television? Any "boob tube" moments you wish to share? | | | | | |

| | My favorite time for TV for me was in the 80's when they had shows like Dallas, Falcon Crest, Knots Landings, and Dynasty. These shows were the best for me. The stars that came from these shows were so good. The characters became like family to me. The only show that comes close to thoses shows now would have to be Brothers and Sisters. | | | | | | |

| | The only TV show that I know I religiously watched when I was young, and have not seen being remade yet is, The Greatest American Hero. It was a story of a regular guy given super powers by aliens(I think), but he lost the instruction manual of his superhero stuff. So he would go bumbling around trying to prevent crimes. Pretty funny stuff! | | | | | | |

| | I remember the theme song, which was performed by Joey Scarbury. Wonder what happened to that guy? :) Ralph did his best to fly, but that guy from "I spy" was always doubtful. Thanks for the comment, bounce | | | |

| | Thar red suit he wore reminded me of some pajamas I used to wear in my teens. All I had to do was put on a cape, and give myself an afro. Would definitely put some fear into children :) | | | |

| | My best boob tube moments were very close to 2008. That's when American Idol, So You think you can dance, America's got talent, america's best dance crew and other shows started appealing to me. I've always enjoyed competitve shows. It's a shame that they took off shows like fear factor. I think they should bring back old favourites we love. Wouldn't you guys agree we should? | | | | | | |

| | I think we should build a television time machine, and turn the knob to the year we miss the most. Other than tvland, what else would there be? Thanks for the comment. | | | |

| | Thanks for BR, palegemini! I can't help but post all over your discussion here . . . I have completely forgotten about so many shows that used to be on TV . . . and I probably watched all the episodes of everything too. Holy cow, I think we watched many of the same shows!! Are you in to reruns these days too (if they show it)? | | | |

| | I am not a hard core sci-fi fan but even I know that 'Dr Who' is the best ever British TV show, possibly the best ever made. Certainly it is one the longest running series ever produced even though it has arrived on out TV screen in two separated incarnations. The idea of Dr Who spin-offs also appeals to me. Series like 'Torchwood' and 'The Sarah Jane Adventures' which takes the Doctors story in a new direction and looks at how his activities have affected the lives of others is very interesting. | | | | | | |

| | Hello Brocery- The only British Comedy that I enjoy is Monty Python and Benny Hill. I used to own the series of both shows on DVD. Unfortunately, due to lack of funds, I had to sell them. Yet, some are still in syndication. Thanks for the comment | | | |

| | Hello Hatley, and thanks for your response. Twilight Zone, Tales from the Darkside, and Tales from the crypt were my favorite serials too. Every story in those shows filled me with a bit of suspense. Including Night Gallery which was another Rod Serling hosted program :) | | | |

| | I worked too long in to the evenings in the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s (up to 2006) to really get in to TV. I did love the Carol Burnett Show, when I got a chance to watch it. Since retirement in 2006, my favorite shows have been American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, CSI, Cold Case, Medium, Mentalist and Law and Order SVU. | | | | | | |
