HIT the BOOKS ************  

hi hiccup well as a senior citizen I am no longer going to school
but I keep learning all the time by reading, and using my pc to
find out about things, and even mylotting a lot. I was surprised
at how much I have learned here right on mylot as I often hit google to answer some questions mylotters have asked and found information that taught me as well as the other mylotter, I love to keep on learning as long as I am living. I have done a lot of searching my family tree and found so many interesting things about the people who all went before ma andare the reason I am now here. My dads people actually were irish and came from Derry in Ireland, Clark to me was an English name but no we are Irish. lol.

Well, now I am going to the school and I am being educated rather formal way. But, I still rely on the PC for my better understanding and yes, the library is always there. Also, my elders help a lot and all together, my education is made as a soup of all the ways you have mentioned.

I do all my learning online these days. I love to learn. I could even call it a hobby of mine. Since the internet came out, well, since I got connected, I've been amazed at all the information available to us with just a few keystrokes!

I've learned a lot about gardening this way. Each new thing I plant, I get all the information I can about it so it'll have a good chance of growing well.

My mother was just beginning to tell me stories about her grandmother and all the things she learned from her about gardening, right before she (my mother) died. I would have loved to have had a few more years with my mother after my stepfather died but I only had her for about a year after that.

Of course, I also learn a lot from my gardening friends here in myLot. I've learned so much here. I think experience is a much better teacher than books. Even though books are usually written from experience, they may only be that one person's experience. Here, in myLot, you can get information from several people, all of whom may have had different experiences with the same thing.

i think that the describtion HIT THE BOOKS is spread here and i think all over the world and INTERNET is the base of taking information ,it is so sad that you can not touch the paper and smell scent of old paper and my opinion is that we need to use books just because someone had effort to make it...
i really love the books and i have one big library at home that i collect for so many years that i don`t know the count of them and i am feeling very well when i read them and i just watch them ...

When I am studying I hit the books with classical music in the back round an I crack the books open an if I come up to something I am not sure about I look it up on the internet

i used to go to the library to study for my departmental examination. i studied on my own , then later joined in for group discussions which i found very effective as we zero down to past years examination questions and the likes. all of us in the group did well as it was a group effort of helping each other to excell. nowadays alot of people used pc for long distance study even up to phd level.

Books are so much fun and interesting but sometimes it gets boring and makes your eyes tired. The elders are a more fun and engaging way to learn. Especially when they tell lengthy stories with silly jokes and add some made up characters.

but when in a hurry, a PC is really handy. :D

I already have my Bachelor's degree many moons ago. And a few years back I took on a program which is about 35 units as a further study to enhance my career. I already finished more than half the course, and I have 7 years to finish it. I've taken a leave from school to take care of more pressing matters, life. Maybe in a few years I will decide to go back to school, and like you said hit the books again.

I am currently trying to get a certificate to where I will be able to do medical transcription from my home. For this goal I am using my educational books, my computer, I have a foot pedal and I also use my class books and such for my studies. In addition to the traditional education that I am getting right now, I also read on a regular basis so that I can further my knowledge. I like to think that my life is a process of continually learning.

I will hit the books once I get my transcripts and testing done for school, but not as soon as I would have liked.
