Useless Discussion!

Why would you start a discussion when you don't even respond to any comment?
I have seen a couple of discussion that has long line of comments but not any comment from the discussion starter. Is there any point of discussion if not even one comment is answered or responded to?

Well sometimes they don't remember to check the "do you want to get email when your discussion is been answered?" like me... Now I have done it so hopefully I will get emails every time (even if it's taking all my inbox).
Happy myLotting everyone :D

i always get notifications on comments on my discussions and responses on my comments but i don't get responses on my comments on the comments on my discussions, get the point?
Like if i respond to your comment such as this, i won't no longer get a notification if you respond to the response i posted for your comment. i wish admins could fix this?

You got a point there, there are just some posters that do not respond or comments to the responses he receives from others. In my case when I post I see to it that I respond to them. But of course not all are given the response depending on how good the response to my post.

I have noticed them too again recently and the same users keep starting topics (they are not discussions if they never comment back) and leaving them unattended.
I don't see any point in starting a topic and not returning to those who participate. It is not want myLot want either. MyLot is a discussion site not a site for question and answeres and if there is no interaction from the user who starts the topic, then that is all it becomes, a question with some answers, and not a discussion

It is the other Lotters who do not tolerate them over time. Once they realise that there is not going to be any interaction from them, then they stop responding on their topics and gradually they will find that their so-called discussions will receive fewer and fewer responses. Then they often complain asking why this is happening
Of course if they are here for the earnings then they are going to be very disappointed. Just because they receive responses, they are not going to see their own earnings increase. They have to get their own fingers going if they want to earn from those responses

maybe for a change, such discussions should not warrant any form of reply-response sequence... just a survey that wouldn't require a reply from the maker of the discussion.. like uhm an objective survey perhaps.. haha

depending on the response itself discussion ... if the response requires reply-response, of course, as the maker discussion, I will answer it

i agree with advokat. If I find the response interesting or needs another comment then that's the time I will give a response. Some mylotters just express themselves whatever the topic is.

yes, this is my complaint too... And also, I have other complaint that many people start discussion with a single line or just 4-5 words... That gives real trouble about what has the author wanted to say, how much to explain... I request all the members, please be descriptive while starting a new discussion...
Happy myLotting!

Oh yes, you are right... If one wishes to receive more responses, then one must be descriptive and should be able to explain, what is on his mind, properly. Some of them don't understand this and post useless topics with a small question or just a short statement, tailed by 'comment'
. It doesn't leave any room to respond a lot and moreover it feels weird to respond to such discussions, too...

Hmm, some discussions really have to be more specific to be an effective topic and others need to have more ideas or explanations so that the responders will have good point in responding to that topic. One line topic? 4-5 words? How could you have ideas about it when you just have that topic to start? Members should really have the mind to entice others to respond effectively. tickle the mind, and you would surely have more responders.

If the original post is written well, and correctly communicated your position and reasons on the subject, what would the response to a reply be? Thank you for agreeing with me? Thank you for expressing your different opinion? If there is nothing more to elaborate, what more can be said?
The only reason I respond would respond to a reply would be 1) to correct a failure to communicate clearly in my original post, or 2) to answer a question I didn't address in my original post.
I originally gave out "Thank you" replies, but then I was informed that was against the TOS. I'll have to find it again and see if I am now in error.

You are here again Hatley. You are really one good lotter. Well, thank yous even like ends the discussion. It is better to leave a comment and even question when the first discussions are finished right? It's a way to make the discussion longer and more fun to respond to.

hi basqui hi thats a good question as once you get responses to
your discussion, you owe it to your responders to comment back.
It is no discussion if we are not really discussing the subject
back and forth. also a good many newer ones have the misapprehension
that the more responses they get the more money they make, which
simply is not true. You are not paid for our responses at all, we are,
but if you or anyone else comments on your or his responses you or he get,you will be well paid. But too sometimes people are ill or away on business so cannot respond even though they wou ld like to, so give
'a bit of slack before getting too upset over not getting comments.

I have pointed this out in many discussions i've been in. No one way communication will last. you need two channels for effective conversation. It's like a swing. You don't have the rhythm of the swing if there is only one person riding it right? got the point?
Yeah maybe others are busy to get back quickly but they must have at least responded to it in days not in weeks or months.

members who start discussion and leave the discussion after posting it, do not know that it is not a good idea. mylot is a discussion forum and when someone response, you should comment. but not just to thank the responder for answering, but with additional questions to make the member come back. a good discussion starter is the one that response to all comments. and that makes us earn more, they should know that.

hi you know if people would think of discussions as conversations then they would reply as you do not just stand mute when someone asks you something you will reply with something, then the other responds, then you respond that is a conversation but on paper its a discussion. back and forth, makes it interesting and fun, a nd makes us all some money.

Hatley, it's what Mylot is paying us for, healthy discussions and effective discussions. The admin even say that a debate should be done so that more responses are expected. Having many responses even in one comment box gives me smiles when it is on my discussion.

One day while I was twiddling my thumbs I noticed a giant plane overheard about to make a crash landing on the beach, so I decided to stop listening to my IPOD so I wouldn't get crushed and then.......what was the point of this discussion again???

I always avoid those stupid fellow's discussion. Who has not the minimum decency to show in social site, he/she has no right to leave here. I dont like them who often skip in commenting back. They, who tend to comment back to their favorite response. If u write a long response and see that your response has been skipped. What will u feel?

Yeah, I get what you mean. You spent minutes into getting a good response and you don't even get any reaction from the starter. argh!
Maybe they should have been in some sites other than Mylot.
But we users or members here have no right to get them out of here. Just enjoy posting and responding. If you have the username of that fellow then you should keep out from his discussions if you like. Hope to see you in my discussions.

I always comment back to responses I receive as it is only common courtesy to do so. If people are going to take the time to read my discussion and respond, then I am certainly going to take the time to comment back to them. I will also comment to other comments at times, especially if I am asked a question that someone wants to know the answer to. I certainly do try to help whenever I can. The one sht don't comment back are just ones that are here to see how many discussions they can post a day, and see how much they can earn, without giving a thought to the fact they should really comment back to the responses they receive. It is really rude not to comment back. After all, others are taking the time to read the discussion and post a response, so at least the one that started the discussion could take the tinm to comment back. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

hi krisnel and basqui sometimes the discussion maker is not commenting back simply because he or she is in the hospital, did you ever stop and think people all have lives outside mylot. I broke my shoulder while I was making discussions, was in the hospital for three days and rehab for three weeks. during which my son had to sign in for me simpley to keep my ac count open. I would loved to have been home then my lotting instead.

I think Mylot Admins will not tolerate such posters.
