Should Your friend Replace Stolen Parts? |
| |
| If a friend borrow your car and parked it somewhere and parts are stolen, should your friend replace them. The most obvious items to be stolen will be sports rims, fog lamps and car radio. Should he or she pay you without you suggesting it? What is your opinion? | | Car Parts/Accesories Stolen | | | | |

| | Since he/she is your friend you cannot per se demand that the loss be made good but it is normal courtesy that the friend pays for the items that have been stolen. | | | | | | |

| | Well, in my case I could not suggest and he did not offer to replace as well. So I left it at that. After all those parts do not amount to much and that was the last time the car was parked in that area. We must be careful where we park. There are too many crooks around these days. | | | |

| | I would think the friend would be nice enough to offer you money for the stolen parts but if he/she doesn't have the money for their own car, how are they going to pay you back for these parts? I'd go ahead and turn these parts into my insurance comapany and see what happens there. but in the mean time go ahead and ask this friend for money to replace these items. He or she should offer to pay regardless. That car was their responsibilty. I hope it all works out for you. quita | | | | | | |

| | Well, the insurance company would not cover for accessories and even wheels. So, they are non-starters. In life, you win some and the insurance company wins most of the times because the law is for them. Remember big business always have the government as their godfather. That my friend did not offer to pay is now water under the bridge. | | | |

| | I can assure you my ins. co . would pay for such. It's just too bad that friend of yours didn't offer to pay you for them. Still you do have the option to ask him do you not? I would and it pay to to be nice but stern. | | | |

| | I think they should. After all, they were driving the car at the time and I would hold them responsible. I don't think I should be the one to suggest it, either. I think it's a nice gesture on their part to replace them free of charge. Kathy. | | | | | | |

| | Since he didn't I will leave it at that. Friendship is more important than a few silver coins. Though it would be great if he had offer to pay. | | | |

| | If he is your good friend, obviously is because you lent him your car, he has to pay without telling. He cannot expect you to cough out the extra to pay for parts stolen. He is not a friend if he negotiate. | | | | | | |
