| | Fair enough, I suppose, but that certainly doesn't make it right. I think the bigger point is that everyone claims to want politicians to tighten up and stop with the garbage. Yet, the Democrats only complain when the Republicans do it and the Republicans only complain when the Democrats do it. And as usual, unaffiliated independent people are either ignored or given a side based on who they root against. I surely hope that the idea of the game here isn't for the Democrat/liberal/progressive majority to get even and do the same things they "deemed" wrong before. It seems like the entire country is going in reverse through no fault of its citizens. And that's a tough pill to swallow for millions of folks who just want honesty and integrity from elected officials. | | | |

| | The Metallion, I do not think many could say it as well as the gentleman below your post Masterfish. It seems to me when liberal can not defend this current administration they always refer back to what the Republicans did,so are you saying two wrong make a right. Foot note Obama run on cleaning up Washington D.C. in my opinion he is a miserable failure. | | | |

| | Is that an admission that you guys were acting unconstitutionally throughout the Bush era? Whether you like it or not now, Republicans defended self-executing rules in court and got them upheld. There's no question of getting even for anything, it's simply now a part of how the House works. Your objections to them now simply hold no water, and you poked the holes in the bag yourselves. Tell you what: if you ever get a majority again, you write to your congresscritters and tell them to repeal it. Not only do I bet you won't do it, but I fully expect on that unlikely day you'll be front and center defending self-executing rules. @kennyrose: If President Obama walked on water, you'd put up a post here complaining that he can't swim. | | | |

| | Mettalion...of course they were acting unconstitutional under Bush. He crapped on the constitution more than any president in a long time...though Obama is trying pretty hard to beat his record. Masterfish however is not "you guys" though. On a turn of the phrase...why do you guys deem it nessesary to put people in a little red box when they oppose people in the little blue box? Does opposing democratic action some how automaticly make someone a republican? Right and left are an illusion, a false paradigm. | | | |

| | Matellion, you're a smart guy, but you need to stop assuming everyone who opposes this unconstitutional garbage is a republican who supported it under Bush. The "Bush did it too" argument is cliche and it's garbage. Bush had a 19% approval rating. That means that even the majority of REPUBLICANS didn't approve of what he, or the republican congress did. As Xfahctor pointed out, the right left argument is garbage to those who see the real issue as authoritarian versus libertarian. Bush and Obama were both authoritarians cut from the same cloth and both violated the constitution. Saying one did it doesn't justify another especially when Bush has been called the worst president ever by those who wholeheartedly support the same acts by Obama. | | | |

| | Xfahctor, if you matersfish, Taskr36, and kennyrose aren't shilling for conservatices and/or Republicans I'll apologize -- it's the way yo never post anything that isn't a regurgitation of a conservative or Republican talking point that throws me. It looks so much like you're drawing a red box around yourselves, you see. Granted, I've only gone back as far as 2 years or so of their respective posting histories to see if there was anything else as far as politics go, so if there's some other data you'd like me to consider I'll have to rely on you to point me to it. In your case, I went all the way back to the start of your posting history, and for the life of me I just can't find where you complained about Republicans using self-executing rules, even when their constitutionality was before a court. Can you point me at that? Perhaps some other instance during the Bush administration where you were calling out the Bush administration for doing something unconstituional? If you're not a Republican, you're certainly happy enough to carry their water for them as makes no difference. | | | |

| | The "White House" CAN'T deem other bills passed, that has to be done by the House. Rose, you worry much too much! We got through the Bush years and we're still the United States of America (not American!). We go through this every few years, those who are against the current Administration at any given time swear the country won't survive. They swear it will fall apart if this bill or that bill gets passed. Guess what? We're still here! I'm not saying we shouldn't all speak out for and against what we believe to be right because we certainly should. I'm just saying there are always bills some people are for and others are vehemently against and those opposed always talk of the impending doom if it gets passed and it never happens, all of these dire warnings never come to pass. | | I'm a registered independent. I voted for Bush the first time and against him the second time when I thought he was taking our country down the wrong path. We're on the wrong path, again! I won't be voting for this President the next time and I won't be voting for any of my senators/representatives the next time. I will keep voting against those who lead us astray, and will continue to do so, until I finally find someone who's listening to his/her constituents. | | | | | | |
