White or Black skin depend on previous generation or Nature?  

I used to think that Africans were black because the climate and weather there is so hot. But when I started to see Arabs with white skin (it's so hot also in the middle east!), I started to doubt my previous opinion. I think, black people are black not because of climate or weather but because of hereditary. Maybe for the climate reason, I think God have foreseen that Africans will live in extreme hot conditions so He designed their color black (with much melanin pigment for sun protection), and while He foresaw Europeans will settle in extreme cold areas of the world that's why their colors are made white. Then Southeast Asians like us will settle in mild conditions (tropical) so the color was made neither dark or white but brown.

But what about the Arabs with white skin? Their environmental condition is also extreme hot? Why is it they were made white by God? Is it because God also foresaw they will use scarf and turbans to cover their skin or bodies?

In a hot country people have black skin like in Kenya for example. If one of these people move over to the United Kingdom and marries a white person they will be able to have babies that have a darker skin than a white person and a lighter skin than a black person. I have a male friend that is married to a black lady. So in that case a different skin color has been introduced. Any future generations might have lighter skin if they have children with a white person or darker skin if they have children with a black person. Yes, I remember the Dutch went to Indonesia and that is how some whites got into the heritage of that country. I know that Portuguese went to Brazil and that is how some of the people were white and others black. In Turkey I saw some ladies with green eyes and most Turks have brown eyes. Their heritage might have included Dutch, English or French for example. White or black skin depends on previous generations. In hot countries people are black in the first place. Aboriginal people in Australia have a brown skin. Convicts were white people sent from the United Kingdom. Nowadays Australia is multi cultural and Greeks and Italians live in Melbourne. Whites have to take care not to get skin cancer. A black skin offers better protection against the sun. Ginger hair in a white person could come from the grandmother. Previous generations give the future children their skin, eye color and hair color.

Geneticists say that a small group of people living in Africa left for places like India, New Guinea and Australia nearly 140,000 years ago. This group in fact populated the entire non-African world.

The people who had ancestors from tropical regions and higher altitude tend to have darker skin. This is due to exposure to greater ultraviolet radiation. The people from middle latitude generally have lighter skin.

However, there is no hard and fast rule.

Skin colors can also be genetic in origin. However, the amount and type of melanin variations in skin determines it.

Melanin controls the ultraviolet radiation that penetrates the skin. It is the melanin, which produces darker tones of human skin. It also serves as a light filter to protect penetration of too much ultraviolet light under the skin. This might cause sunburn and it might disrupt the synthesis of precursors necessary to make human DNA. Besides, humans need at least a minimum threshold of UV light to penetrate the epidermis to light to penetrate the epidermis to building the bones of the human skeleton.

With evolution, humans began losing their body hair as well. However, a parallel evolution permitted human populations to turn their base skin tone dark or light to adjust to the competing demands of 1) increasing eumelanin to protect from UV that was too intense and 2) reducing eumelanin so that enough UV would penetrate to synthesize enough vitamin D.

People who had migrated to places where sun light is intense developed dark skin and those who migrated to north they over a period had developed light skin.

This is a core genetic question.
I would try to answer it.
It depends on both.
nature can affect it like even a fair person can tan his skin if he is under sunlight for too long.
It also depends on Genetics like one can be black if previous generation was.
Nature keeps the tanned skin color.

To me, race should not even be an issue anymore because we live in the 21st Century and we live in an era where race should not matter. I wonder why it still does?

Your skin color, eye color, texture of skin and everything about you is predetermined by your genetic makeup.. some genes may turn on or turn off.. some may mutate.. some may be dominant genes.. while others are recessive.

Several of my friends are Native Americans (Choctaw)the dad has some features like a light skinned black man.. he has the broad nose... he and his wife of the same heritage have children and grandchildren... some of the adult children have the same features as the father and some of the children don't...and the grandchildren..are a mixture of a Choctaw mom and an part Eskimo dad.. some of their children are very tan and others are very white. None of the kids have the broad nose that the parents and grand parents have. It's all due to the genes.

Please finally let me a Black person explain. It is both Heredity and Climate that causes skin color. Climate is the first factor that causes skin change.

Understand this history all humans were dark skin and traveled to different parts of the world. Those that stayed in the African region remained dark and became darker in many instances. To change skin color by climate however takes many many generations.

Of course a faster way of changing skin color is mixing races and having children.

Two important points : All people were dark or black in the the beginning and moved to a different climate and over time and generations changed skin tone.

Many whites or light skin people traveled centuries ago to the caucus mountain region.
Another point is two light or white skin people cannot make a dark child but two dark people can have a lighter baby than they are.

Skin colour is according the gods creation,but he is also wise in creating according to the situation regularly and some times it will change,i think you are more white than south Indian people,am i correct,these types of colour,birth etc etc will be decided before our birth itself,have a nice day

I think skin color depend on our gene, if your are mix race which gene do bring. its also happen in our family my mom and dad were white, my and my sister tan like others mostly Indonesian people, but my brothers was black/chocolate it because our great-great grandfather was has a black skin.
