I envy those mylotters who can't seem to go down from their 10-star!

I know it doesn't really do anything with our earnings, but I'm just wondering how these fascinating mylotters could stick to their 10-star while I, regardless how goody-goody I am with the discussions (to avoid conflicts and avoid ticking off people) could only manage to prolong my 10-star for a day or two (at most 3days). So, for those who are constantly enjoying the 10-star rating, how do you do it?? What does it take to be somehow 'loved' by everyone (thus I'm guessing giving you positive (+) rating all the time? Or, perhaps there are some people there who can just not take my ideas and will always look for ways to rate me negatively? hehehe... Anyhow, that's it. How do you do it guys?? and for those who are always at the 1-star to 4-star regardless what they do, how do you manage to be down there all the time? Thought I must admit, the 4-start violet looks great!

Does the star affect the earnings here? I've been here for 3 years but just been active for like a month only and to be honest I still couldn't understand how I get stars. Can I monitor if people rate me negatively? Anyway, I just like posting and I'll just post and post until I'll reach 10-star. ;)

Yes it does affect our earnings as stated in the FAQs: 'The DRS (Discussion Rating System) is factored into our proprietary earnings algorithm, so this will help us properly reward valuable contributions to the myLot community.' http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq17.aspx

How will I know if I was given a negative rating? Will I be able to monitor it?

hello laydee, don't worry laydee, at least you are recognized as one of the few veterans left here in mylot. all i could say is that look on the bright side, nine is better than eight, and who wouldn't want to be hgher than eight. my old account was eight and when i realized that star reflects your earnings i couldn't bring it back anymore so this time am making things up.don't get envy and think of the bright red side

lol Maybe they never respond to discussions? I have maintained my 9 for close to a year. I keep trying, and I am a big mouth, but I guess nobody gives me negatives. Now, I have never given a negative myself. I think if you are participating shirt of harassment, thats a positive!

I used to have a red star, but when some trolls were active quite a while ago, I was wrongly downrated and have been trying to get it back up since. But now they limit the number of times you can rate each person per day, so it will take much longer to get back up than it did for those nasty trolls to get it down. By the way, the higher your star is, the more you get paid. So, it does have something to do with your earnings.

Oh, is it true that you are limited to a number of ratings per day? Like how many to be exact? Perhaps that's just it, I always reply later in the night, so probably most of the people who'd like to rate me can't since their rating time is up! hahaha.. Positive thinking!

The rating limit is 11x/day per user. For instance, I could only rate you 11x/day and you could only rate me 11x/day. I try to rate everyone's comments that I read positive. Unless, of course, they are rude or obnoxious and cruel. Happy mylotting!

They've just been lucky enough not to be posting when some freak that doesn't like anyones opinion to be different from theirs is on. Not saying that they didn't get the 10 star in a legit good way just that there are some individuals on here that will down rate you for something as simple as you like the color red and they don't.

Hi friend, I do not envy 10-star holders, but I admire them for their contribution, their quality and their consistency. As regards me, i am yet to reach that 10-star position. But I am steadily progressing towards that. When I completed 200 rating and Star started appearing in front of name i was at * now I am at 9, Hope I will reach 10 also one day. I am optimistic that If i reach I will be able to retain it. One has to be consisiteant in his her approach, and be oneself , to retain the image eraned.Thats what i believe.

Oh thanks for the post. I have been at the 10-star rank but can't seem to hold it up for a long while. I guess I need more charisma to do so. Hahhahaa..

I do not envy people who have constant 10 stars as I must prefer people who are not afraid to to stand strong for what they believe in. How boring this site would be if every member avoided conflict by only giving wishy washy postings.

hello my attention was caught by your post. Actually i seldom come to mylot but i did got my first earning here but because of a server problem i can't always visit this site no matter how i wanted to. Yet, i still got that star i guess those who are evaluating our post can see who are really posting from their hearts and replying as well with their brains. Its not really the number of post or reply when it comes to rating but it's the sensitivity of how u are commenting on each issues.... But no matter, as long as you enjoy what you do here then you are still winner. Keep on posting and replying and I'm sure you will get what you deserve. Be positive always, having gone a long way here as i can see in your numbers.... You are already a Winner. Regards!

I am wondering now if there are really people who evaluated each of the mylotters. I doubt so since we're so many, don't you think? Anyhow, it's good that you somehow got to hold on to your 10-star regardless the situation, I guess you could really write and interact with people here in a positive way. Keep it up!

Hello lady! I am here for more than three years and I could also not resolve the mystery of the blue star.. I was awarded the blue star and the rating of 10 twice but for brief period, otherwise, red start keep shining against my name. May be those who get blue star are extra lucky and mylot people love than more than others or may be they have some very nice friends in their list who keep rating them positive for each of their post. I feel I am not so lucky. I have stopped thinking about getting a blue start now.

I've had my blue star for a while, but I'm not sure how I got it since I've always had it. That's not to brag or anything, but it may be because I always try to be positive to everyone. I always thank them for posting and for responding to my discussions. I feel that I know you pretty well, my friend, and am familiar with the types of discussions you post. I don't really understand why you wouldn't have your blue star! In my opinion, I think you should. I mean, I don't think we should have a goal of just having a high star by responding to discussions since it doesn't really affect things much, but it's nice to have. I sure hope you get your 10 stars soon, Laydee! I know you will be there soon. Keep up the good work!

By the way, you've obviously made progress since you posted this discussion because now you're at the red star. Good for you. I'm so glad you've gone up since posting this discussion. I knew you could do it.

Oh yeah I have notice that to you too. I have seen all of us from a comfortable 10 to even 7 and can't seem to go back to the 10-star. Even for you, who I think posts great thoughts. Well, I guess it's for them to know and us to find out!

Well from the looks of it, you're gearing up to your goal and you could achieve such soon. I guess discussions (well, great discussions) are the ticket to the points and the star ratings.

You will msee your own star beside your username when you see hompage (100). The colour will depend on how many plus ratings you have received from other users when they rated your posts. The lowest star is 1 and the highest is 10 and it affects our earnings too. Just be yourself and be pleasant giving informative quality posts and I'm sure yours will be a good one. This is the part in the FAQs regarding the rating system: http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq17.aspx

I think it mainly has to do with responding to others posts. At least, I rate everyone who responds to mine and so I think others must do the same. If you make some responses every day and respond to responses made to you regularly, I think it helps to keep it topped up.

Yeah, I think it takes for one to be 'regular' in order to get the 10-star, look at mine, I did this regularly for about a few days, now I'm back at 10, but after a while, I shan't be there for long hahaha.

I guess if we were all blue it would be boring? We'll get there - and you sooner than me I guess. As I said in a previous response, it does affect our earnings as those with low stars are aware.

i think it has to do with participation. it seems if i keep at it a little each day i stay there. also if i keep up the not getting discussions deleted actually im not really sure. maybe like you said, you got to be loved by all?

Hi Laydee, Maintaining such is not easy. you will never know when it will last and when it will go down. i experienced a rollercoaster twist in my rating but i always take it as a challenge. i know our friends here know about us and they will continue to support and back us up by giving us positve rating. i always give positive ratings to my mylot friends too. but of course we cannot please everyone for our responses. then it's their to call whether to give us negative and positive ratings.
