How do you think a director can make a typecast actor escape from it's image  

But Jim Carrey was still having a hard time to escape the comedian image, I guess its better to start with drama then surprise people with your range because starting with Action and comedy will get you typecast, I think doing occasional independent movies is also a good way for actors to have a break from being type cast,

Thats why I think some mainstream actor should do independent movies occasionally so they can enjoy their range. Play the role they were typecast in mainstream movie and enjoy a bit of versatility at some Indie movie.

yeah...but problem is that, some audience specially their fans, can't accept them on the new role that they are portraying...huh!

I actually admire those lead actors who have the guts to accept a villain role once in their life, that makes them a real artist.

yeah...a real actor is the one who can do good in any role given to them...

I think now lots of actors were not picky with roles since the competition is very cut throat, I'm actually interested on letting an actor or actress who was stereotyped for villain roles to try be the lead role for the 1st time but I think they will need lots of workshop and a make over.

yeah, but here we have some character actors/actresses that can actually portray a good & bad character and they do good on either way...but of course its always on supporting roles only.

Our country was not Hollywood, Our country's industry was obsessed with youth, So only younger people usually gets lead roles while in Hollywood, your career will catapult once you reached the age 30.

yeah, i notice that too...well i guess it also have something to do with the viewers...most viewers do like seeing younger people on screen and it seems that older actors are just meant for supporting roles...except for the big stars of course.

They like seeing younger people because that mis what the 2 big networks were trying to make them like to see. In Hollywood a 27 year old actor is still playing teenage roles.

Being catapulted to lead roles and villain roles is the one that usually makes people being typecast. I thinks its better to start with small roles before hopping for the bigger picture. In that way its easy to have a role transition I think.

There was a very well known actor on TV in the 1970's ,he played 'doctor who' for a long time (3 or 4 years I think) and then after that, he played 'Worzel Gummidge' for another long time but they are about as far removed from each other as is possible in an acting role. One is a clever time lord,all sensible and fast acting and the other was a scruffy old scarecrow with the brains of a big turnip.
I think he was near the end of his career and wanted to finish it off with fun acting as he had been a radio actor for years before that.
Lots of people have played 'doctor who' but most of them only last a couple of years in the role for fear of being stuck with the character for ever.

Thats was too bad on his part, playing a doctor forever, I think I had seen an actress who was playing villains roles all her life. Thats I think some actresses were afriad of villain roles.
