Help Me With My Right Claw! |
| |
| After years and years of clutching a mouse, I am now finding my hand cramping up like a claw. My thumb is sprung, and I have shooting pains in my wrist and fingers. I'm sure I could do some searching but I have to post a discussion of some sort eventually heh heh. What I want to know is if I can get a keyboard with a different kind of pointing device or a different pointing device to use with my laptop without having to get a whole new computer. Also: does anyone know if Osteo-Biflex (glucosamine and chondroitan) helps this kind of thing? | | | | | |

| | Thank you! This could indeed be carpal tunnel, as I've always worked on a keyboard. I had extensive spine surgery about six years ago and I've been avoiding the doctor for quite some time because I got sick of 'em lol. So Callum, I would like you to diagnose it and treat it. Unless you are a doctor. rofl | | | |

| | hello Hatley.I was not aware of this, neuropathy and diabetes?I was diagnosed nwith neuropathy in my left hand about 3 years ago but after many tests they still could not find the cause, until finally, they realised it was stress-related.However by then I had sough forms of alternative medecines. What transpired was that had a massive emotional shock about 5 years ago and there was still "negative energy" within my body which had not been released.I was very skeptical,at the time,of this this conclusion. But i had some massage therapy done on my left hand, and now its fine.So maybe we shouldnt disregard alternative medecine like I have been doing all my life ? | | | |

| | No diabetes. I think it really is physical repetitive stress. . .and the mouse clutching. Bracing my wrist is helping so far. I was also curling my wrist and sleeping that way at night, you know how you sleep becomes second nature and you just don't pay attention. Emotional stress sure can wreak havoc on your body, I know massage has worked for a lot of folks. Come to think of it, my mom uses a massager on her knee, that couldn't hurt my hand either | | | |

| | badpenny - it's just a suggestion.Maybe alternative medecine or practises may be of use.i certainly used evry doctor i could find and none could help. There was numbness in my last 2 fingers and i could not grasp with my index or middle finger. There were times, when i put my hand in my pocket and could not feel a thing.Mouse clutching is something us humans were not designed to do | | | |

| | The osteo biflex might help, it certainly won't hurt. As for the pain you are having, I have had problems with my hands and wrist. I would suggest getting some splints for your wrist and wear them at night. That would be one of the first things a doc will tell you. When you sleep do you keep your wrist straight or do you curl them under your pillow. I suspect you curl them some when you sleep. Its important to keep your wrist straight while sleeping. You don't want your wrist to get so bad that you have to have surgery. I was developing carpel tunnel and stopped it before it got bad. I wore the splints at night to keep my wrist straight, now I don't have to wear them. I sort of trained my wrist to stay straight, I would be quick to use my splints again if my wrist started to act up again. Good luck. | | | | | | |

| | Thank you so much! You know, I do catch myself curling my wrist the way you describe. I have some ace bandages around here and I'll try wrapping the wrist and see if that might help. If not I'll try an actual splint. It is encouraging to me that yours got better. | | | |

| | Your welcome and thanks for the friend request, I went ahead and accepted. I would also like to welcome you to mylot, I hope you like it here. We are a great group of kind caring people. You can make lots of friends and learn lots of stuff too, have fun at the same time and earn a few $$. My wrist and arm would wake me up fom a sound sleep, it would be numb and hurting at the same time. I would get up and have to shake it. Now I sort of hold a small pillow, one hand on top and one hand underneath, that way I keep my wrist straight. I hope it helps you. | | | |

| | Thanks very much. I am lucky that this pain does not wake me up but I feel it could reach that point. I will try the pillow tip for sure! | | | |

| | hi badpenny5 You should go to your doctor and have yourself examined for carpal tunnel sydrome as that is what it sounds like. there are wrist guards for carpal tunnel people too but see your doctor and see what he or she says. I think there are such keyboards but I am not sure where you find them, maybe a microsoft store? take it' from me that glucosamine and chondroitan do not do a'tinkeres damn worth of help for arthritis, I have tried them and been very disappointed too. | | | | | | |

| | Thanks, Hatley. I very well might end up at the doctor. I am sorry your arthritis was not helped. My mom tried the glucosamine-chondroitan for her knees, but ultimately had a knee replacement which worked wonders. | | | |
