| Do Certain Symbols Make You Angry?  | | | |  As you can see, I have chosen the symbol for the Center for Nuclear Disarmament (commonly known as a "peace sign") for my avatar. For some reason, in other locations this has seemingly driven some people mad! On the other hand, if someone chose a swastika as their avatar, it'd probably have that effect on me. I'd ask what it meant.
What makes me wonder about this, is that people have said that since Jesse James' motorcycle shop's symbol is an iron cross, he must be a white supremacist. They say it because the German armed forces adopted it. But originally it was a symbol of freedom, according to what I have read previously. I remember surfers wearing it years and years ago.
So -- are there symbols that "set you off"? Do you say anything to the person about it?

| |  I don't easily get upset with certain symbols but there's this guy who was always walking around without a shirt. He has a cross tattooed on his chest. Normally crosses don't set me off but his tattoo makes him look like an @ss.

| |  OK I've found out about your avatar! Swastickers set me off, maybe because I'm a brit although I had learned it started out life as a symbol of freedom and liberty. Sadly, for me Hitler distorted that. Tattoos set me off too, I just can't see the point of them especially as they're so hard to remove!

| |  I don't usually get angry with any symbols. I think sometimes people may just put up something because it looks nice. It doesn't really mean that they understand the meaning behind the symbol all the time.
