You are right, the ghost in female rest rooms were kinda universal because we have those university lady's rooms. I know that most for these ghost stories really happen in female rest rooms.

So Hanako's story was already adapted into a movie. As Gareth said, Hanako is not the only ghost that lives in the lady's room. I think the Washroom is a paranormal portal because it has water and Mirrors. Its only weird that spirits like Hanako, usually appears in Lady's room. I haven't heard any horror stories that happened in the men's room. Thanks for the response.

LOL you cracked me out, to think of it and make it worsts, she always haunt dirty lady's room. She exclusively haunts lady's rooms in schools only. I think this story circulated around the 1960's or 70's. Lots of children and teenagers were afraid to go in the lady's room alone because of this story.

Hi ckyera "why the toilet" or why bathrooms, well the theory is a connection between the fluidity of water and that of spirit activity. It's possible that the water concentrated in the bathroom may serve as a conduit the source of energy for her to show up. Mirror are also sources of energy but if she was drown in the toilet in a violent way. Traumatic event causes a sort of emotional connection to the place in her case the toilet so she would show up in that way

she will actually trying to comeout of the toilet seat while you were seating on it. anyway if you ever get to visit in a lady's room in a Japanese school, you can actually summon her with a prayer and have a heart to heart conversation with her.

that thing is real. My friends bought for Halloween to scared the living hell out of the guests hehehe well is not our picture but it looks like that one. They got it on the internet and put on the toilet last Halloween.

it scared some of the girly girls and well when it was my turn to go to the bathroom my reaction was; what the f*** and I was laughing hysterically here is the thing, we had the lights dim so you couldn't see anything in this case you set on the toilet and well you felt somebody groping you

That is like a scary poop monster, anyway I have a hard time finding Hanako San clips in action at youtube. Why do you think there were more apparitions in the lady's room more than the Men's room. I never heard Men's room ghost stories.

@ Albert based on my research and my mentor's we came with a silly conclusion as to; why there were more apparitions in the lady's room more than the Men's room and never heard Men's room ghost stories. One is that women are more open to, and prone to experiencing, paranormal activity such as ghosts, apparitions, psychic phenomenon, and the supernatural than are men. While there is little statistical evidence to back this up, it has been suggested that women tend to be stronger believers in religion than men, which might lead to them 'believing' what they see more than men do. Not saying that you don't believe it (MEN) some do. Can be that also remember how a traumatic event causes a sort of emotional connection to the place, if you think about it women are more emotional than men and women are more lucky to be in a Violante relationship and we all know how those end also some western civilizations still think that women are evil and link to Satan

Thanks for that explanation, The most common ghost apparitions with men were usually in their car. Male drivers most said they had experienced apparitions in the road.

anyway I just found out Japan have more toilet malevolent spirits and they were more disturbing than cute little Hanako. They also haunt Ladies room as well. The 1st one is Aka Manto, He was said to be a very handsome man no girl can resist he decided to weak a mask and a red cape. Now here is the horror about him, If you see this masked man inside the ladies room he will ask you a question, Blue cape or red cape. If you said blue he will choke you to death, If you said red he will slit the back of your throat or maybe skin you alive. If you gave him a 2rd color, hands will pull you down to hell but if you said yellow , he will push your face in dirty toilet water and spare your life.

There is also this girl ghost named Kashima Reiko, she was this girl who lost her lower body, and she may remind you of Manananggal. She will ask you were is her legs, if you gave her the wrong answer she will twist your legs. But if you said at the Meishin express way, she will ask you another question, she will ask Kashima Reiko(her name) told me that. after that your life is spared.

Its very ironic that malevolent spirits dont haunt the men's room, I wonder why those ghost discriminates and prefer the lady's room. Most bathroom ghost stories happen in the lady's room.

Oh, now I remember. Once in the Nokia enterprise (it's finnish), the workers wouldn't go to the toilet, because they thought that there was ghost... LOL

In my case, If i'm a ghost, I will haunt something more classy like a Hotel room or maybe a mansion, not a public toilet.

mansions are nice especially the Victorian style or a castle. I would haunt Dracula's castle.
